Remember that Folgers commercial where the man comes home for Christmas and the little boy sees him first thing in the morning, and he wakes everyone up with the coffee?

I liked that commercial at first, because I wanted that road, too... but by about the third time I saw it, I was getting too jaded for it. I never got sappy over the Folgers commercial, either, but I knew a lot of people who did.
The one that I love because I'm a cynic and not a morning person is the one for creamer where the woman is watering her flowers and sprays the paper boy. I wish I had a paper boy! That commercial cracks me up every time I see it!

That road of life commercial goes so fast though. The sentiment is good but if I really think about it, it simplifies life too much. I guess that's the point though: A good life through credit cards. hehe :-)
Know what's funny, speaking of credit cards....I'm thinking of this kind of stuff a lot now because of the money troubles I'm in and am currently in the process of taking care of...but whenever I see people using credit cards in stores now (like the lady in front of me at the grocery store last night), I cringe and think, "I wonder if they're having trouble paying off their balance every month and I wonder if they struggle with their bills."
The Road of Life does me in too. Last night though there was a diamond commerical for those 3 stone rings that are so popular for anniversaries and such. And the guy "proposed" to her in the middle of a huge people-filled European square and asked her to marry him...again....awww! Talk about sap. And I've seen it a million times and it always gets me.

I don't remember the exact stat, but Americans owe an average of $8,000 on their credit cards. A lot of us are living well outside our actual means, thanks to credit.
I think the same thing as you when I see people whip out their CCs - especially for big, spontaneous purchases. I just paid off my last credit card last year and it felt so good. It took a long time to dig out from that after I racked up some bills in college. I now maintain a zero balance like your grandparents -- very freeing for the mind.
Good luck - you can get there. Sounds like you are on your way!
Oh, and for the commercials, I'm a total sap. Hallmark, cars, credit cards. They do an amazing job these days of pulling at the heartstrings. I like the diamond commercial where the guy takes his wife to the spot of their first date, gives her a bracelet or something, and yells "I love this woman." Aww. I've never had anyone yell for me. :)

AJ, enjoying life with C.
Well, I am sort of like you - if I don't have the cash to pay off the bill, I don't buy it.
Well, there are really big purchases - like I'm getting a new horse trailer and truck - I don't have 30K just sitting around, so I will finance that.
