Ok, I honestly try to be a better person than this - maybe I'm just having one of those days... but, there is a new girl in my office (new as in just started working here last week). She shares an office with another girl directly across the hall from me, and the two of them talk all day long and she has this grating, sticky sweet voice. UGH. That's been annoying enough.

Well, apparently she got engaged on V-Day, and I have had to hear the story - from him choosing the table in the corner because she doesn't like the spotlight, to the waitress grinning at her all night b/c she was in cahoots, to the proposal over dessert - three times while she gushes each time. I want to be happy for her, but I have only just met her, so I'm having a hard time of it.

If any of you posted this, I would say "but remember, her fiance is not the right guy for you" "you will find someone, too" "maybe they're not as happy as you think" - etc. My rational self says that. The other part of me says "GRR - why is someone so annoying engaged and I'm not?"

Ok, end of vent. I'm better now. :)

I ask myself those questions sometimes...she's ugly/fatter/annoying/dumb/etc., so why can she get someone to marry her and I can't?

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I spend a lot of time in airports... you see just about every type of couple in an airport. Overwhelmingly, the feeling I come away with is "how did all of these people find a match and I haven't?" Sometimes, it's a reminder that there's someone for everyone. Other times, it's just annoying. Is there anyway you can use heaphones at work? :-)

Thankfully, I have a door. If it gets too bad, I'll just lock myself away in my office.

Shy - don't even get me started about how much I hate hearing about wedding plans. I'm not much of a girly girl, so I really couldn't care less about color swatches and cake tastings.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has those weak moments. I am hoping her fiance is ugly and boring. ;)

Did I tell you ladies I got engaged on Valentine's Day? My future wife, who just started a new job in Colorado, was so excited. She told me all the people in her new office were so happy for her. Well, except for the mean lady across the hall. That angry, bitter woman actually threw pencils and Post-it notes at her. It sounds like that mean woman needs a hug. ;)

Seriously, it is okay to be annoyed by annoying people. Of course, you still need to be polite and respectful, which I'm sure you are. Maybe as you get to know her you will be happy for her. Then again, maybe not.

Just the thought of wedding plans makes me cringe. It's way too much... I don't know what I'd do if I had to have a formal wedding with all the bells and whistles.

The fiance is probably stinky and fat in addition to ugly and boring :-)

Cool!

Now every time she talks about choosing flowers you'll think "stinky" and every time she talks about picking tuxes you'll think "big & tall men's store". Hehe. Whatever it takes to get by. :-)
