Secret Single Girl Behavior

I got this one off Sex and the City when Carrie says her secret single behavior is standing in the kitchen eating saltines while reading fashion magazines. Its interesting but we all have odd things we'd never want a guy to see. Whats yours? Mine is probably the occasional night when I have a buffet of junk food setting in front of me and I watch past seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I look like a freak of nature with all I can shovel in my mouth in record time.

Hahaha I remember that episode and sure I have tons of secret single girl behavior. I often have solo dinner dates. I make a really nice dinner, set the table with the nice plates and utensils (2 place settings even though its just me), light candles, put on soft music, and eat. I almost never wear clothes when home alone and if my roommate is home I just hide in my room so I can stay nude. Also after a shower I coat myself with at least 4 layers of lotion. I'm not sure what I like more the smell of the lotion or rubbing myself lol.

Mine are:

-eating only cereal for dinner
-watching reruns of my favorite British comedies (that all men seem to loathe, but I love)
-blasting music and dancing alone in the living room
-belting out a song at the top of my lungs
-eating cookie dough straight from the container

OOh, which British comedies?? That's a behavior I'm not ashamed of. :) I love Coupling, I watch it every night at 10.

As for me? There's the usual singing and dancing to my MP3 player (someday someone's going to walk in on me with those headphones on). Other than that, I sometimes stay in for an entire day to watch America's Next Top Model marathons. After I eat pasta, I sprinkle grated cheese on the bottom of the bowl and eat it plain (a little gross, I know). I can't think of any others right now, but those are a few.

>> -eating only cereal for dinner

I thought only single live-alone guys did that. Apparently not. My favorite 'dinner' is a tall glass of protein shake ( with yogurt) after a workout

>> watching reruns of my favorite British comedies (that all men seem to loathe, but I love)

And what comedies would those be ? My all time favorite is 'Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister', followed by Fawlty Towers, M.P. , and then some obscure ones like "Some Mothers do 'ave 'em". I watch them all. The 70s and 80s were the golden age of television comedy, almost all from the U.K. I have tried to watch some of our own prime time "comedies" on network, but more often than not I just end up staring blankly at the screen. Maybe I don't get them.

>> -blasting music and dancing alone in the living room

Oh, the woes of singlehood. Let me guess, after you are done dancing in solitude, you jump into your couch and burst into tears. (j/k)

>> belting out a song at the top of my lungs

Would you put one out on YouTube for us, TG ? We would like to see.

>> eating cookie dough straight from the container

At least you don't have to worry about your butt. ;)

The Brits may not brush their teeth, may not have good oral/dental hygiene and their 'gourmet' may not even meet the standards of Guantanamo Bay. But one thing they do have is a great sense of humor. Dry/caustic/witty/sarcastic. And when you think of that, none other than John Cleese comes to mind. I haven't kept up with current comedies. Watched an episode or two of 'Office'. It's nothing like those from the past.

I loved the food in England. Granted most of it's no longer "British," but a mix of all sorts of cultures (a la here), but even pub food I loved. Then again, my guilty pleasure is macaroni and cheese and I'm a big fan of comfort food. The Indian food was amazing as well...I love food, I really do. :)

Anyway, I love Coupling because it's so blatantly sexual, which would never fly here. That combined with the classic British wit and sarcasm makes it just hilarious, I love it.

Coupling is hilarious, although I can never seem to figure out when it's on. I don't get BBC America, so I have to find it elsewhere.

My faves are more old-school - Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served and As Time Goes By (that's the one the guys hate, but I adore Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer). I like pretty much all British comedy - fits my dry humor well. I think I need a British man. :)

I don't know what you are talking about. That's all I am going to say.

It used to be on the Boston PBS affiliate at 10pm on Tuesdays, but that doesn't help you. :) Alas, I'd check PBS.

I think I've seen every single episode of Are You Being Served...my dad used to watch it every single time it was on TV. :)
