Should I call/text him?

Short and sweet:

I met a guy on Tuesday (March 27th). He asked me out, he called me Wednesday night, and Thursday night, and we planned out date for Saturday night. When I talked to him on Saturday (March 31st), he cancelled, b/c his brother died the day before (And no, it wasn't a brush off, it was in the newspaper, and I know a friend of his). He said that he still wanted to go out with me, when things settled down. The funeral was last Tuesday (April 3rd). So here it is, 7 days since the funeral, and I was thinking about sending him a short little text tomorrow, just something like, "Just checking on you. Hope you're doing OK."

Do you think that's appropriate, or should I wait longer, or just wait to see if he contacts me?

Why don't you call him? I too make the mistake of emailing or texting b/c it's quick and to the point. However, it has been brought to my attention that it is a tad impersonal . . .

I would wait. I think a week after the funeral is too soon. I'd wait like a month, at least. If he contacts you in the meantime, that's one thing, but this is private/family time, IMO. It would be different if you'd actually started dating before his brother died, but under the circumstances I'd wait.
