Single after a long time... stress?

Single after a long time... stress?

Well, I'm just out of a long term relationship. It's very strange to be answering to no one but myself. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do to feel like myself again? I guess what I'm trying to ask are these two things...

1. How to forget the "programming" in my brain that makes me stressed that I'm not calling or seeing that other person anymore.

2. How to find myself again, the things I like and enjoy, without worry.

I'd worry less about "getting back to your old self" and instead just relax and find a new kind of normal. Chances are, you're not the same person now as you were before your relationship anyway so take this opportunity to do whatever you want. The idea that we don't evolve and grow and have to go back to something we once were doesn't seem to survive very long in an ever-changing world.

Well, those are pretty complex questions and there are many things that you can do to help move on and find yourself. But, no matter what you do, it is going to take some time. Can you try to spend time with friends? Are there any hobbies that you enjoy? Maybe taking up some new ones will help you to make a new start. Things like joining a book club might be a nice way to start a new hobby and meet some new friends.
