singles event ideas

Hi. I recently came up with an idea of having a singles event (actually, I have thought of this a long time ago, but never had many ideas to actually go with) for singles in the 20-40 age range. I am 32 yrs old and single and around here (I am in NJ) there aren't many singles events unless you are widowed, divorced or over 55. I KNOW there has to be others like me looking to meet new people in a comfortable, fun atmosphere that lacks a sense of desperation. I would LOVE to make this into a business, but I thought it would also be great if a percentage could go to charity as well. I thought this would feel good to do and also help make others more interested in attending. My initial thought was a salsa event because that's still pretty hot right now. My questions is would you go to an event like this? Should I have a smaller age range or does a wider one sound good? Do you think men would attend (or does dancing sound like a turnoff to most men...or maybe even to some women? Most men I have known couldn't dance or didn't want to)? I also thought of a wine tasting event, but I'm not quite sure yet about the details involved with that. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:)

I think dancing is a good idea, but like you said, I'm not sure how many straight men you'd get to respond.

That'a a good idea about having something sports related. Yet, I know for myself I am not sure how interested I would be in something sports related. Yet, it would probably attract more guys. It seems that every idea i have seems like it would either be more appealing to either men OR women. I need something more neutral. The sports idea is good though because at least it's something to keep people active and hopefully having a fun time. I think I am going to mull that one over a little more. Thanks!
