I'd like to know what planet that blogger lives on because every single person I know isn't surrounded by all these choices of acceptable partners. The problem is they're surrounded by jerks, losers, or people that are already coupled up.
I'd also like to add that individual personalities make a huge difference in making choices. If you've studied the Myers-Briggs personality sorter, you'll know that Perceivers have a much harder time closing off options than Judgers.
Music, I'm always amazed when people say they have thousands of profiles online to look through. The last time I checked here, there were 37 profiles on match that fit my criteria- 27-37 (or 28-38...I can't remember) no kids and nonsmoker. That's it: 37.
I think the key is realizing that we have the appearance of choices (if I expanded my search to 50 miles instead of 20, for example, I'd probably have 100-200 profiles), but they aren't true options for all of us. Yes, there are lots of men out there, but we wouldn't choose to date all of them and they wouldn't all choose to date us.

I do think that having lots of choices is just as hard as not having any choices at all.
Wow!
I do think that a lot of what she said makes sense.

That's the problem w/ living in a big city.
That's the thing I don't get!
That's a geography thing, Shy.
Amen.
