There is a high school in New Hampshire that has a really unfair rule: you can't go to the prom without a date!!!

I think that's terrible and should not be allowed!!!

"I wonder how they would react to a homosexual couple attending the prom"

That could definately be another issue as well. I think they are opening up a big can of worms putting a rule like this on proms because then you get the issue of political correctness and homosexuality. I think a lot of the kids and parents too are not going to be happy with this rule.

I haven't made my way over to the article yet, but from what you've described, that's ludicrous.

A lot of schools HAVE banned homosexuals from attending proms and dances together.

I was going to say, why don't the kids who do not have dates couple up, same sex, what have you . . .

I wonder what would happen if a bunch of them rebelled and went stag anyway?

I know, it'd be great if they'd do a follow-up story...but it's likely that the little blurb they got on the news is the first and last we'll ever hear of it. LOL

"It's actually a school rule that the school government decided on to keep the event formal, school officials said."

Am I totally off base thinking that the school government is made of peers? I thought that was made up of the class presidents, secretaries, etc. It didn't say school board. If so, it would explain the weird concept of keeping the event more formal.

Plus, it says she can't go by herself. I hope she finds someone else who wants to go and they show up. They're a "couple" even if not in the romantic sense.

What a crock. (Maybe they were all on their cell phones when they made the decision) :)

Hmm..I don't know about that - I took it to mean school officials...but that's a good point; maybe it was thought up by the students.
