Something Profound?

I have an itch. An urge even. I want to do SOMETHING, I just don't know WHAT! I want to take advantage of my singledom to do something on my own that will: a) teach me something about myself b) make me a better/more exciting/more well-rounded/more secure person c) change my life in a profound way OR d) all of the above!!!!
Any ideas? Okay maybe not things that will change my life in a profound way, but SOMETHING I can DO before the next boy comes into my life and I start thinking about ME less?

Do you have a body of water near you? I just took two of my nieces canoeing down a riverbed and it was quite challenging. I wanted to give up so many times but guess what? I didn't have my cell with me for fear of it getting wet so I had no choice but to keep at it. The two hour "cruise" took almost five. Of course, we stopped a couple of times along the way to "collect shells" but it was still quite challenging. I learned quite a few things about myself along the way. Among them:

1) I cannot obstain from profanity.

Very funny . . .(-:

Ever consider the Marines? I promise every thing you mentioned . . lol . .ok air force MIGHT be a better idea these days. (-:

Really, depending on where you live, Scuba diving . .I was almost certified as an instructor at one time. It is a sport where you can constantly raise the bar, move from simple dives to night dives, deep dives, cave dives, shark dives, wreck dives . .elevate the danger and trill at your pace. Dont "just" dive, chalage the sport. Unlike football . .it really can kill you. (-: Caves are the worst / best for danger. One of my friends back then, the one who got me to test the waters in caves . . she worked for NOHA?? Scientist of some kind, been a while . .anyway she got so deep in a cave that she found a new species of life, even got to name it. THAT is pushing the envelope.

Sky diving is another one that will absolutely teach you some things about your self . .. That first tandem jump is not real costly.

This has come up on other threads, but I highly recommend taking a solo trip somewhere you've never been. Traveling alone definitely teaches you something about yourself and will be a memorable experience.

I have often been a bit envious of my bachelor brother (he's a cop) who can travel any where he wants, every year - all over Canada (we're Canadian) and some parts of the U.S. - but one of his favorite recreational activities is finding nature trails (where ever he travels too) and bikes the trails. He told us once he was on a trail (can't remember exactly where) but him and another fellow on the same trail had to stop in complete awe as at the same time and place an eagle was right there, spread it's wings, and flew off. He said it was probably the most spectacular thing he's seen in his life.

If it weren't for my 2 young DD's and now I'm recently back with my H, I would gladly get out into nature. You don't even need a bike, just your own two feet (and perhaps some bear repellant - lol).

Set a goal for yourself -- train for a marathon (or a 5k), take a class you're interested in, plan a great trip (a few years ago, I took a hiking/biking trip by myself with backroads -- they're on the web and they have "singles and solos" trips -- it was wonderful), write a short story and submit it to a contest...
