Has anyone done it?

It's high time I got back out there (ugh) and since I have sworn off online dating, one of my friends recommended speed dating. She met her current BF that way and said you get a much better feel for a person that way then you would online. I'd like to try it, because God knows I'm not meeting anyone out in public on the streets!

I'm not brave enough for that, but if I were, I'd probably still take a friend with me. Good luck!

I've done it. It was good for some funny stories, and I did meet one decent guy. In my experience, though, the women are much better catches than the men (not to generalize, but that was the case the two times I tried it).

I would say go with a female friend so you can swap stories later. It makes for an interesting evening, and you never know. :)

I did it too, with a friend. It was definitely interesting. I think the key for us is that it was sort of last-minute, so we didn't have much time to think about it. Out of 10 guys, there were 2 or 3 that were decent (in my opinion). The others weren't for me. There's also time to "mingle" before and after the event and there were definitely some guys there who were on the prowl. The good thing is that there's no pressure. You talk to someone for 8 minutes, then you don't have to worry about who likes who. You write down if you want to see someone again or not and if you both match, they exchange your information. I chose 2 guys - one chose me and we went out. He was a little sketchy in the end, but that doesn't speak for all guys who do it. The problem with going with a friend is that you both might like the same guy, but if you go in with a "this is just a new experience" attitude, you'll probably have fun, and who knows - you might meet someone.
