My 14 year old niece just got her heart broken for the first time. She's putting on a happy face and saying she's okay, but she's liked this guy forever, and he didn't return the feelings. Her friends want to "set her up" with another guy to help her get over the first one.

My 12 year old sister has been "going with" the same guy for quite awhile now. He's moving away, and she already has another guy in mind for her next "boyfriend".

I remember the first guy I ever had a crush on. His name was Andy, and I liked him from 2nd grade up until about 6th grade. I never told him, but I smiled at him a lot in the halls!

Do you remember your first crush? Did he ever find out?

I remember him like it was yesterday! Andrew moved into a house just up the street from me in the third grade, and it was love, love, love for me from the 3rd grade until the 8th grade, when he went to a different school for high school. He was so cute, so cool, so funny. He was in band with me, but unlike myself, still managed to be the most popular guy in the school. I liked him so desperately, I would do anything for him, and I'm sure he knew it. I followed him around like a puppy dog... My first unrequired love. *sigh*. Thanks for the memories. :)

Too funny that you should ask this question now... I've been thinking about that first crush. Before him, I had boys that I liked. But, Brian was definitely the first guy that I had that puppy love feeling for. We were at camp together. He had these big blue eyes, and I thought he was utterly fantastic. Unfortunately he was dating a friend of mine (as much as dating is when you're 11/12.) Every summer I would fall for him all over again. I finally got up the nerve to tell him when I was 13. (Actually a friend of mine told him!) But he had a girlfriend and he lived in a different town. I saw him once more and then he didn't come back to camp again. Too sad. But very fond memory.

My first crush I was 6 yrs old. My brother brought all of his friends home after school and I was sleeping on the branch of our cherry tree. As soon as I caught sight of Joe, I nearly fell! I was struck! They went into the house and I followed them. Plopped myself right into his lap as soon as he sat down. If only it were that easy now :) Two years later, my sister dated him. One night, I watched from the window as he kissed her goodnight in the driveway...and when my sister came thru the door, I attacked her. I am ashamed to say I permanently scratched her nose (a mark she will show when she explains how crazy her little sister was). Luckily, in her memory it was from another attack...no man is worth hurting your sister over...I have a reminder of that mistake. The crush went on for 20+ years. Everytime I saw him, I was struck with the warm & fuzzies. I got over it just a few years ago...I was knocked unconcious and when I woke up my brother and Joe were both standing over me with the exact same facial expression and I realized: it will never be, he thinks of you as a sister...and poof! the intense emotions were gone. Later that day, I met his newest gf...who will become his wife next summer...they just got engaged recently. She's the exact same age as me and we have everything in common - great choice! LOL.
