Telling Stories

Someone recommends that when I meet a girl, to build rapport, I should tell entertaining stories which reveal some positive traits about myself. I have some stories, but they are either silly or a little embarrassing. For example, last week at a book store, I was looking for the sex and erotica section, and when I approached the help-desk girl for help, the exchange turned into a conversation about fantasies which made me squirm a little.

I remembered that the volleyball girl once told a really cute story. She tried to hatch an egg when she was little, and to that end she put the egg on her bed and threw all her clothes on top of it. A week later, her mother entered the room and asked, "What is the smell?" I thought that it was a great story and that it was cute at the end when she made a funny face about the smell.

I cannot say that I had a happy youth or that I have many stories. Nonetheless I hope that you guys can ask me some question so I can recall the few that I have. At the same time, I will try to lighten up a bit and enjoy myself. Thanks.

I think stories are a great way to let someone in on a little bit of your life.

Oh, yeah, once my mother almost called the police too. While I was sleeping, I rolled off the bed and then under it. She freaked out but then found me before calling the police ....

By the way, I just discovered something which I may enjoy immensely -- magic! What an ice-breaker too. Tomorrow I will go check out the book store and learn something.

Just be careful with the magic stuff.

Dorky? The performance may be terrible, but I do not know about dorky. I remembered the only time that I did magic tricks in front of people. It was too much fun that I could not stop giggling ....

I've been watching Arrested Development reruns that TIVO has been recording for me and thought of Gob doing his magic tricks when I read your post--talk about dorky, ha!

Just don't be one of those guys who carries his "bag of tricks" around in his pocket "just in case."

LOL, so that's what you meant. No, a couple should do it. Like I said, it is just an ice-breaker.

Do you have any siblings? Some of my best childhood stories revolve around my older brother and sister . . . like, for instance, the time my brother urinated in an empty mouth wash bottle and convinced me (at five years old) that it was their new menthol flavor.

"Then there's the story of me (again at 2 or 3) on the floor hovering over a water bug in the kitchen, screaming at it at the top of my lungs until it keeled over and died. I don't remember that one.

I "rode" a wheeled plastic toy down the concrete garage steps once. I say "rode" because I think I got about two inches before I fell, hit my head on the garage floor, and went unconscious."

--LOL!!!!!!!

You could always take the low key approach to magic, say, like David Blaine.
