Being there alone actually kind of appeals to me because I wouldn't have to deal with anyone else or compromise when I didn't want to.

Buy the car and drive to the beach.
Miami is also fun but it's generally pretty busy and not as laid back as I like to be.
I'd love to take a trip with y'all. I've been contemplating a vacation of my own, but I am saving for a down payment on a townhouse -- so very similar situation.
But, which one does more to feed your soul? The house is an investment and something I've been working toward for a long time. BUT, I haven't been out of my state in three years and I LOVE to travel. I'd love to go somewhere new - but the alone factor is what gets me. I have traveled alone before, but it doesn't appeal to me as much now as it used to.
If you like beaches and pretty places, I recommend San Diego. Personally like it better than Florida, because it's not as humid and rainy.

I'm with you on the light-weight drinking plan, though, I just can't handle it anymore. I guess I'm a cheap date these days.
