Funny you mention this today. Thursday I'm leaving for a trip on a sunny beach. Though I won't be alone on this one, I would be in a heartbeat. I've done it before and I'd do it again. I recommend islands. The people are friendly and if you're alone, there are a LOT more people there doing the same thing as you.
FYI- there are a LOT of sales out there right now for travel. Maybe you can have your cake and eat it too?
Let me know if you need some sunny beach recommendations, I'd be happy to share. Except for the next 5 days, 'cause you know, I'll be at the beach. :-)

Being there alone actually kind of appeals to me because I wouldn't have to deal with anyone else or compromise when I didn't want to.

>I asked my class to help me decide between
>saving for a down payment on a new car next January
>or going on a vacation to a sunny beach somewhere
>over spring break.

Buy the car and drive to the beach.

I think Florida would be a good choice if you want to stay in the US. If you can, try to get down into Key West and the Key area in general. There's a huge difference between there and, say, Daytona or something. Ft. Lauderdale is also nice.
Miami is also fun but it's generally pretty busy and not as laid back as I like to be.

We should get a group of iVillagers together and book a vacation somewhere. I bet that we would have a blast! Though I need to watch the drinking. I had 3 martinis last night (which used to be nothing - but my tolerance has lowered since I cut down on my drinking and I have 30 less pounds of body weight now to process the booze) and I feel like there is a fat man sitting on my head.

I'd love to take a trip with y'all. I've been contemplating a vacation of my own, but I am saving for a down payment on a townhouse -- so very similar situation.

But, which one does more to feed your soul? The house is an investment and something I've been working toward for a long time. BUT, I haven't been out of my state in three years and I LOVE to travel. I'd love to go somewhere new - but the alone factor is what gets me. I have traveled alone before, but it doesn't appeal to me as much now as it used to.

If you like beaches and pretty places, I recommend San Diego. Personally like it better than Florida, because it's not as humid and rainy.

AJ, enjoying life with C.

I think that would be SUCH a fun idea!
I'm with you on the light-weight drinking plan, though, I just can't handle it anymore. I guess I'm a cheap date these days.
