I logged on to Yahoo! tonight and found a video from ABC News about a kindergarten teacher who saved a student's life - the kid had a brain tumor and the teacher notified the parents that the child wasn't walking right, stumbling around, etc. Maybe they should have their baby checked out and surprise!

Go teachers! I know there are some here and thought I would share that yes, we do make good calls occasionally. (I also couldn't get myself over to the Teacher board, it seems to have gone to recess.)

I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not saying that you're completely wrong.

Unfortunately that is happening less and less nowadays and our schools are getting worse and worse. When I was in school. You got detention and in school suspension if you got in trouble. Your mom didn't come in and say to the school "why did you punish my baby, my baby didn't do anything wrong" In fact when you got home because you missed the bus because you had detention, you got grounded for two weeks on TOP of the detention. Your parents didn't go to school and beg the school to get you out of punishment or call the newspapers to call foul on the school for unfair punishment etc and so forth in fact they punished you further when you got home.

Our schools can't even discipline you anymore, they can't even break up fights without calling the cops because parents will sue for touching their kids. The schools are in turmoil and we wonder why people think our schools are scoffed at.

I don't. I'm afraid for any future kids I have. Because if we don't put an end to to this politically correct, blame everyone else society, I'm offended by everything bullcrap that is going on right now than god help us all.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard I would think that you would be opening yourselves up to further lawsuits if it was found out that a teacher saw something and DIDN'T report it and a student died because of something.

Yeah, it's sad....I was in elementary school only...11, 12 years ago (ooh, now I'm really sounding like a baby :) ) and it wasn't like that, but it probably has something to do with

There you go again with all that, "common sense" man, I tell ya, I may have to find you and marry you for real.

Oh and yes, I do like BBQ!! *especially those meaty rib tips that the Little Ceasar's started making, oh my GOD, they are good.*

But you are so right about demanding excellence. That's part of the reason many of the students in this building see me and walk the other way,

****

The trick to those ribs is indirect heat, let them slow cook for hours with them wood chips smoking them and adding the hickory flavor. Fall off the bone good. (-: All the women in my life complain my cooking is really bad for the scale. LoL

As far as fixing problems . . good luck. In anything government it's all or nothing, left or right, good or bad . . there is power in all that disagreement. The problem with most things government related is it usually is about power, protecting that world of bureaucracy. It is the opposite world everyone else lives in. Yet we look to it for solutions. Odd really. (-:

What is the guys name . . Saul Lewinsky? Hillary did her term paper on the guy in collage, 92 pages. Ever read it? If not Google it, or I probably still have the link around . . Very enlightening reading. You recognize that kind of strategy in all kinds of things . .

Oh, we can report observations, we just can't offer a diagnosis (because we're not doctors, after all) or make a suggestion about what to do about it.

I still think it's ridiculous that the school should be required to pay for a therapist. That is the most asinine policy I have ever heard of. I can see if it is something to do with learning, such as the child has dyslexia and the parent wants a program that is perfect for dyslexia but a therapist ummm no that's ridiculous.
