I purchased an '07 Versa back in Feb. The day I drove it off the lot, the outer cover on the keyhole fell off as I was getting in!? I brought it in, they said they'd order it. Fine.
A week later I go in to drop the car off b/c they called to say the part had come in. The part just happened to be lying on the counter top, so I grabbed it. It was the correct part but for the key-less entry which, I do not have. So, they have to order a new part. I've been calling about every two weeks. They put me on hold, come back and tell me that it's not in, but they'll call once it is. Never heard from them.
My car was due for service so I was planning on taking it in this week. This past Sunday, I go to get in, and THE HANDLE COMES OFF. I take it in on Monday and tell them that it's due for service and that I am leaving it there until they fix the handle/lock cover.
I just got off of the phone with them. NOTHING has been done. I spoke to the guy in parts who I dealt with on Monday and all he could say was, "I dunno" so I ask to speak to his manager. I said, look, this has been going on since February and now, with the handle GONE, I cannot get into my car unless I enter from the passenger side. This is unacceptable. I NEED my car back.
He basically tells me that the handle AND the keyhole cover are on back order from Mexico AND their computers are down and have been for two days. What the? Okay, first of all, who drives their brand new car off the lot and a piece falls off. Then, within three months of purchase, the flippin' door handle comes off????? I want to SCREAM!!!
They ended up telling me that the handle *may* be in today, when Fed Ex runs again. Okay, when I worked indirectly with FE, they had two drop offs. One at 8 and one at 11. WHAT is he talking about? It's almost 2 here.
Does anyone know how to get things done? Seriously. I have no idea where to go from this point. They are pretty much telling me that I'm up a creek until God knows when and it appears as though they are not the least bit concerned. I checked, and the sales manager, who sold me the car, has left. I'm so disgusted.

Does your state have a lemon law? If not do you have a local "help me hank" person on the local tv station that you can get in contact with, if not than I would contact Nissan directly about the issue explain the situation, tell them how disgusted you are with your BRAND NEW VEHICLE.
There is no reason for this.

Tell the dealer if this isn't made right by XXX day, you will be reporting them to Corporate.
Dealer's HATE having bad reports being sent to Detroit. (Or Nashville, in your case.)
UGH! is right!!!!
Update: I just drove home a shiny new Nissan Versa sedan. Guess who's paying for it. Yep, you guessed it, Nissan. The best part is, it's not a loaner. They got it from a rental place across the street which means it's out of their pockets. Which means until my car is fixed they are actually losing money.
I can't let my dog ride in it. The interior is a sand color, but I can live with that. I don't know what I'm going to do about the girls. I guess I'll put some towels over the seats. I'm just happy that I have a car to drive! Yay!!!
Thank you Stacey, I can tell you're the type of chick who would help a gal out ; )
Don't give up though - still go to corporate as suggested.
I'm not sure how it is in the states - in canada the dealers (at least those I've bought from) are ALL OVER customers returning surveys -- - I get them after every vehicle purchase as well as after every service. When I buy - the salesman makes a distinct point of asking me to complete it when it arrives in the mail . . . after service - I get a phone call from the dealership asking me to look out for and complete the survey when it comes.
It's all about their 5-star rating - - without positive customer feedback - they lose it . . .
It's a big deal to the dealerships without a doubt.
Would you believe that I got a call from them late last night, around 8:30 or 9? I know it wasn't the local dealership, I'm not exactly sure who it was, but they were calling to remind me to bring it in for servicing. They gave me a number to call if I run into any problems. If I don't hear from the local dealership by this afternoon, I'm going to call.
Thanks again!
