The thought makes me a little nauseous and I'm not sure that I'll keep it up, but I rewrote my profile and put up new pictures on Saturday, and then made it searchable on Sunday.

Oh, I hate Norton and McAfee virus products (don't know if that's the virus scan you're talking about).

Ooh, I hate that too! I also hate the eternal email-er but no date make-er guy.

It's very discouraging to get back out there - especially when you have recently come out of a relationship that had just reached that sought-after "comfortable" phase we've talked about before. It is so hard to go through the stupid interview phase with a bunch of new guys who may or may not even be worth the time for a cup of coffee.

You're right, though, that it's a necessary evil. If you want the connection, you have to put yourself out there.

Not that I'm one to talk. My last date was in December. My last, short-lived relationship ended in November. I'd love to date again, but can't seem to muster the energy to try. eHarmony keeps sending me 3-for-1 deals (I used them for 4 months last year), and I don't have the heart/stomach to re-post a profile.

I am on the fence about whether or not I believe in OLD anymore. I was determined to meet people the "old-fashioned" way, but that doesn't seem to be panning out, either. What's a girl to do?

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Hi there. I'm new to the boards, and saw your post, thought I'd share my two cents . . . I met the guy I'm currently dating on line and the funny thing is, we had about three nice dinner dates, and then for whatever reason, we just didn't get together anymore until over a year later! I dated a couple of guys in the interim and got royally dumped on new year's!!!!! Well, my current guy had called me before Christmas, and something made me hit save on the message . .. then I got dumped, and his message popped back up, and I said, "go for it; a date with an attractive guy is JUST what you need right now."

Three months later, and things are going great. The moral of my story is, you just never know!

So I say just have some fun with OLD, be generous in your use of the delete button, and go for the entertainment factor. I used yahoo personals, by the way, and I ended up with a couple of nice dinner dates with men I never would have known otherwise, a great bad date story, and a nice new boyfriend.

I was hopeful about the "old-fashioned" way thing too, but then realized that it's never worked before, so why would it work now?

I like that one cfk. There should be a name for every type of online guy such as "ghost after 1st date man" or "desperate winker guy" (kind of like the real-men of genious budweiser commercials lol)

What about "exclamation point man" or "no photo provided man" or "adventure man".
