I won for Most Improved speaker of the Year last night at my speaker's area banquet. I was flabbergasted. I had already won for Best Table topics! Table topics are 2 min speeches where you don't know the subject matter till you are up there. The person who presented the award belongs to the Professional Speakers association here and she gave me some ravings compliments.

I LOVE speaking. If I could speak on social/environmental issues - I could make a decent living and not give up on my beliefs. Now that I can define success and see the goal...I just have to plan how to get there. It may take a while (and alot of speaking practise) but I am not a quitter!!! I can wait YEARS as long as I know where I am going and why...heck, look at my 6-yr wait for Mr Right...its been pretty interesting...

It feels so great to be recognized :)

Go.

Very cool! I wish I could speak in public. I teach, but they are kids, so for me, that's different. Put me in a room full of adults and if I don't have a prepared piece, I'm stumbling all over my words!

You go, Go! :-)

I'm the opposite....I had a lot of trouble when I tried teaching kids for a summer, but I regularly train adults (between 18 and 80 people at a time) and do pretty well. I don't like doing it, but at least it doesn't show!

Well, Pooh and Schnap, I can do both! Kids don't bother me, and crowds don't bother me (I used to debate in high school). Put me in front of someone one on one, though, and I freeze. Go figure!
