Hey Everyone:

We are okay for now but we are displaced.. Me and my mom evacuated on Sunday night. It was mandatory as you know we live near the beach. We have been in a hotel since then and my mom cant survive this. Its taking a toll on me also as I am not equipped to take care of her here.. We are doing the best we can.. Sis went to her boyfriends and took the dog and cat and i cant get in touch with her because of New York City and Long island is without Power and water and heat and everything.. I feel like I am in a war zone and that is what everything looks like.. Its the most insane thing I have ever seen .. workers are working around the clock to get  things fixed but they say it could take over two weeks.. To make it worse our water supply where we live is contaminated and we cant go back yet.. We dont even know what happeend to sis's house.. The whole area is under water and there is no electric, no heat and no water and nothing so now what?? I cant afford to live in a hotel and pay for outside food.so today me and mom are going to my son;s gfriends house for a day or two and then what??

I dont even see Red Cross or anything and I have heard the National Guard is on the way and all but so far its been very very sad and devastating.. Taking it one day at a time but I am losing it day by day...praying for strength and all and that is all about I can do.

I do have internet service in hotel as they are on back up generators but after we leave here today no idea what will happen. My sons;s gfriend has power but I dont know how long we cna stay there..

Just send prayers and hope because this Hurricane has destroyed many in New York, NJ and surrounding areas.. There were 100 homes that burned down in Queens NY from power lines and well its all a mess right now and the power lines are still creating havoc.. The pics you see on the tv true and real .Even the gov. of NJ has been crying as he assess damage. Atlantic City is almost gone under water.. My home state looks like it was in a war right now in some areas  and that is no exaggeration.. I am shocked beyond belief................

I am speechless as to the destruction..

Take care everyone .. will try and check in with updates if I can...

thanks for caring..

It does look awful on tv, and I can't imagine being where you are today.  Even though it's awful, you CAN get through this.  Be strong, and you'll come through it just fine.

I am glad to hear that you are safe--that is the most important thing.  did your sis have flood insurance?  If so they should pay for temp. housing.  I hope you can find living arrangements soon.  I just couldn't believe the pics I have seen of the water in NYC.  Keep us updated.

Hi there;

update on sis;s house. we still cant go back yet.. I am not sure sis had flood insurance. I do know that last year Hurricane Irene blew off her shingles and insurance paid for that.. I dont know if they would supply us with a place to live.. they pay for certain things but not hurricane stuff.. there is also a deductible..

The new update on her house is that the water went right up to the steps but thank goodness didnt go in.. The backyard is a  mess and the front door flew off and broke and is gone.. The fence and side of house blew away .

Yes; greatful that we are alive and dealing as best we can.. We still have no water, or power at sis house so we are at my sons and its okay but I dont want to stay here.. for various reasons although I am greatful..

I have internet here so that is good and we have heat . I just dont feel very comfortable..

I'm glad she didn't have a flood inside--that must be so difficult to clean everything up if you can even save your stuff.  I saw the photos on line of that area of Queens where all the houses burned--that's so sad.  I hope you can go back soon.

Hey everyone.

well we are still okay now at my sons gfriends. She has been so gracious and we have heat and water and power.. I am so fortunate and so blessed.  we still cant go home because there is no water and no water supply and nothing... I dont know how people are coping there without heat as its getting cold now and with no water i cant even imagine.. We have been gone now since Sunday and power is still not on..

Many people have died and its insane and yes 80 houses burned down to the ground in Queens and lives are lost and all of it.. I cant even process any of this yet .. I think we are all in shock still and its way too early to feel anything.. We are all just in some sort of survival mode...

I do know that many places I love and loved where I live are totally washed away.. The beaches and the surrounding areas are gone; just gone and its like a city that went under..

I am still trying to find people that havent checked in on facebook and all but its nearly impossible with no power and no internet and nothing..

Like I said I am so fortunate as we have all we need and more for now.. I am just afraid to see what is going on back home. I cant imagine as I see the photos on tv of the area.. so so sad..

take care

Glad to hear you're still with us free and you're safe. The storm will pass and then the efforts to rebuild will be under way. All you can do is pray for things to improve and help others when you can. I know thats easier said then done, but hopefully it'll distract you a little when things seem hopeless. Have tried any eft for your stress levels or overall mood? Couldn't hurt.

I can't imagine the stress of being displaced like that but am so relieved to learn that the water did not make it past the steps of the house, and you & your family are all safe.  I hope they can soon regain power and you all can return home.

thanks guys.. thanks CFK

Yes; I am still in shock and didnt realize it but we are hanging in.. Hear that our area wont get anything for weeks.. Right now the stores and closed and power is out and no water supply ..

Now what is happening is that gas stations have run out of gas and lines at the pumps are two hour waits.. I have about half tank left of gas so I wont be going anywhere soon...

we are fortunate though about the house..

thanks everyone
