Can I add a little HUAH (or whatever that sound is) to the end of that title?

Oh yeah...my teeny, tiny beanpole friend and I lifted and loaded my huge, old, solid wood, computer desk (think old teacher's desk) into her truck today without the help of any testosterone AT ALL!

That reminds me of when I moved out on my own, after breaking up with the BF. I took the bed with me, and had to set it up myself. Which was a bit difficult, but when it was done, I stretched out on it, spreading my arms and legs wide, and sighed, "Ahhhh!!" Cause it was now all mine and I didn't have to share it with him anymore. So far, the bed's all good!

The question is: Did YOU hook up the computer, or did Ricky?

Shy,

When I moved last year, I had an unpacking party. I invited all of my friends and acquaintances over and bought everyone pizza and beers and, in return, they helped me to unpack. Not only was it efficient, it was a heck of a lot of fun. If I were there, I would come to your unpacking party. Actually, I love Kansas City. Desserts at the Classic Cup, the Plaza, the Nelson-Atkins gallery. It's a really neat place.

Jules - I LOVE the unpacking party idea!!!

I used to have Pantry Parties as the house-warming. The first move out of home or on your own can be pretty expensive to get all the pantry basics, so my housemate & I asked guests to bring four, oil, spices, pasta, cleaning products and so forth instead of gifts. Worked a treat - each guest only spends a few dollars and it saves you hundreds for the first set-up shop (which of course you spend on drinks and nibbles for the party!).

How did you find things that other people put away?

I assigned people to rooms and then made little graphs in advance of where I wanted stuff to go. If they weren't sure, they just asked. We got my furniture assembled and most of my stuff unpacked in about 3 hours while drinking vodka lemonades and beers and listening to music and dancing around. It was great.

I actually haven't been to Kansas City since 1996. I should go again soon.
