Weight Discrimination in Dating?

According to a new study from Yale University, weight discrimination is a widespread problem in this country, and it's only getting worse. The researchers found that weight discrimination occurs both on the job and in social setting almost as frequently as racism. What's more, overweight women are twice as likely to be discriminated against as overweight men. The study also argues that American culture sends the message that weight discrimination is acceptable. Do you agree? Have you seen weight discrimination in your community or office? Has it happened to you?"

Since 60% of the American population is classified as overweight then I wonder if the fat is descriminating against the other fatties or is it just the fat men are descriminating against the fat women or that the minority non-fat people are the ones in power?

IMHO, there is height descrimination, good-bad looks descrimination, blonde hair descrimination, big nose descrmination, descrimination against the poor, wheelchair and handicap descrimination. and on and on and on... so I say "so what?" to this.

The solution is to elect more liberals to govt. so they can add weight discrimination to their list of "hate crimes". Liberals in Congress also need to pass a 'Fair Dating Act' to make it mandatory to date the overweight, among others.

In my personal life, I do not hear or see weight or race discrimination.

I agree, Mark, we all get to want what we want in the dating arena.

I found the article fascinating although I didn't think the article had much to do with dating but I did find it a bit disturbing how society yet again was so gender biased against women.

I have seen weight discrimination in the job. I'm surprised other people have not seen it or maybe they just turn the other way because it doesn't affect them so they don't care.

I agree, the article didn't really pertain to dating, whereas my response pertained solely to dating.

Yes, it's true, the article did point out that the standards for women are higher than for

Our new RVP wouldn't **ever** behave in that manner whether he felt that way about people overweight or not I once commented on my own weight and he said oh knock it off your fine...so he didn't even like me putting myself down.

But I do know Sam and he did slim down a lot during that time and he's the nicest guy ever and that particular RVP was very intimidating and no Mr. Slim himself so I didn't know where he got off calling anyone FAT. Kind of Pot calling Kettle if you ask me. He was such a jerk. Very unprofessional. I suppose he and HR got lucky, I think he's going to come across someone one of these days that isn't going to take too kindly to being called names at their workplace.

Being rude and mean should never be acceptable.
