Well I went back on my word

So much for my "I'm never doing online dating again!". Just out of curiosity, I put my profile up last week, and thanks to Match.com and their "brilliant" plan, you can't even see who has e-mailed you unless you are a paying member! So, $34.99 later, I decided I'm going to get the most out of my month membership.

14 e-mails later, I had responded to 3 guys. One of them I have actually chatted with a couple of years ago, and he asked if I wanted to get together for a drink, but the problem with him is that he doesn't like to go out during the week because of work and working out and eating and sleeping, so on Tuesday I suggested 7pm on Sunday for drinks (the only time I could really do it this weekend) and he writes back "that may not work for me, but it's only Tuesday, so let's see.". Well, it's Friday night, haven't heard back (granted, I didn't e-mail him back after that) but if he wants to go out, I think he can put forth the effort to say "sorry this weekend won't work, let's try for next weekend".

2nd guy, we e-mailed back and forth several times, friendly conversation, then he said "I'm sorry if I'm being forward, but would you like to get dinner sometime?" so I wrote him back and said yes, I would, and gave him my phone number, and I haven't heard a peep out of him.

Seriously, now I remember why I hate doing this! I did send out a few winks tonight because well, I really do need to go on some dates and move past my old hurt and get over people that obviously don't want to be with me, but c'mon, isn't there another way?

Me too. I went back on Match twice this year. The first time I paid for a one-months subscription only to cancel when I didn't find not ONE decent, attractive guy.

I just canceled again this weekend after doing the 3-day free trial. I realize you won't meet many within that short time but my profile had been visible for weeks and I believe you get the most hits the first month. I wrote to the 2 guys I liked and never heard back. Infact, neither had even logged on to read it. So Im out and not paying.

I've never met anyone I really liked there anyway.

And I have not found any other better site.

i posted 3 ads on Craigslist a few weeks back and got flooded with emails. By the time I narrowed them down to a few, most send they wanted to meet me and would call or email later and I never heard back from most. Or they just drop off within a week or so. Flaky, flaky, flaky.

I'm sorry that you all are having such bad results with online dating. I personally think its great! I have my profile up on several different sites including match and yahoo and plenty of fish and myspace. Although I don't pay for any of them. I have met lots of guys I find to be attractive and interesting. I've gone out on first dates with about 6 or so in the past 2 months. I guess if I find them to be reasonably attractive and compatible I will see where it goes. I have had a few 2nd dates and now with one guy we are headed toward the 3rd or 4th. My last serious boyfriend I met online and we dated for 2.5 years. I find that I get lots of results with yahoo personals... I think something like 60 guys have viewed me in the last week. I really am sorry you are having bad luck... maybe you could broaden your search, contact more people without pics, wink more. I'm not sure.

This reminds me of the "myspace angles." Haha. :) Also, I don't mind a couple self-pics, but if all you do is take picture after picture after picture of yourself...seriously?

Anyway, I just think 35 bucks a month is a rip-off and taking advantage of people because they KNOW people will pay it. I paid 30 for a couple months when I knew no one in London and said screw it when I came back to the States. I did meet a few nice guys, but ehh...too much cash for me.

I'm done with online dating ... mainly LOOSERS! And if that includes me, then I guess I'm one as well. Some of the men, not all because I haven't dated all of them, are either financially strained, liars, cheaters, or just plain idiots (ouch! I hate using that word). I rode the membership rollercoaster wave many times ... continous renewal/cancellation and that never-ending rollercoaster trap left me even more depressed and hopeless. So now that I am over it, I'm staying away from the dangerous world of online dating. I think just possibly I may have been the online dating dangerous threat! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I've never tried eharmony, but I have a friend that did and cancelled it. I've heard it's terrible.

I tried Black People Meet, Match.com and Eharmony ... of which I thought was a waste of money and time. I met a few people, but as you can tell, I'm still single.
