What are you doing when you're not looking for a date?

It seems like we're always talking about looking for dates, lack of dates, etc. but I'm sure that everyone does other interesting things w/ their lives besides work.

I realized today (or re-realized) why I have such a hard time sticking to exercise. It takes over my evenings. I work until 5:00 or so, sometimes later, come home, change and then relax for half an hour or so. My goal is to be on the treadmill by 6. An hour on the treadmill, then half an hour to drag myself upstairs and shower. Then I cook dinner. By the time I've eaten, it's 8:30 and I always still have work I need to do, but usually put off because I'm exhausted. I try to be in bed to wind down watching tv by 9:30 or so, and plan to have the lights out by 10:30 or 11.

When I am not exercising, I have more time to sew or do one of the other many hobbies I've picked up and dropped over the years.

Honestly, except for my Thursday karaoke, my days consist of work and exercise...which is more work! I do like shopping on the weekends, but I'm trying to hold off on that at the moment.

Work - maybe 55-65 non-consecutive hours per week.

I am enjoying singing in a choir, and have done that since 1994 (girl choir 7 years before that too). Now I have also taken up another choir, which consists of only 12 people - and that is a new challenge. Choir is a lifestyle! I cannot imagine my life without singing in the choir. Music is my biggest passion and I love concerts, listening to music and singing.

Other than that, I love reading and am a real bookworm! Meeting friends is of course up there, but most of my friends do unfortunately not have much time to meet me anymore. Watching TV and movies as well as being online is on the list as well.

Unfortunately having a 4 year olf with me full time doesn't let me much time for anything. I spend my evenings and weekends with him.

I went to a salsa club a couple of weekends ago--after taking lessons for about 4 monhs.

It's annoying when people don't invite. Some people, especially those who take lessons, only invite those they know (it has nothing to do with looks or the way you dance). Some nights are like that and then you could go to another and suddenly, you get to meet someone with whom you click in terms of dancing and the evening is worth it.

It's funny, last Friday I went to such a practice night (it wasn't in a club, but in a dance school) and one young guy came to me to say that he liked the way I danced with someone. That someone was a really good dancer, so it looked like I was too (and I'm not that good). He said that he just started taking classes.

I'm trying not to make this sound like an "about you" section of an online dating ad but I'm not sure that's possible *wink*

I'm into photography, I'm a foodie but love to cook the food as much as I enjoy eating it, I make jewelry, am quasi involved in the local art scene; hitting up exhibits and taking in live music, indie/foreign films/festivals. I'm pretty out-doorsy; love camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and I'll cop to it, yes, also bird-watching. I enjoy local history/architecture so am a bit of a road warrior, too.

I'm fairly independent and cherish alone time so many of these I'll do whether a friend is tagging along or not.

that is interesting that you like camping, outdoors and also the arts but I am also like that.. I love music and I check out bands and have been dancing a very long time.. I also love history and find myself wandering into places and checking out local history.

correction though.. I dont like fishing or camping but I do love being outside walking and hiking on a trail..

I was in choir in high school and middle school, and for one semester in college. I looked for a choir when I moved here so I could make friends, but the only one I could find was rather exclusive and mostly old ladies. I wasn't confident enough at the time to try out, plus old lady friends really wasn't what I was looking for. Now I just sing karaoke, and I have to admit I'm addicted to the microphone!
