I was talking to someone last night and found myself saying that I'm not really good at anything.

I'm good at performing. I love performing music and occassionally being on stage acting.
I'm good at talking to anybody about anything.
I'm good at listening..really listening to people.
I'm good at cooking.
I'm good at entertaining people at my home.
I'm good at working with kids.
And shy I highly doubt that you're "just mediocre" at something. I looked at your profile awhile back and you fixed your dad's house?!? Thats not something that handles mediocre person doing a mediocre job.
Well, if you'd ask my younger sister, she'd tell you I'm not really good at that.
I'm good at singing.
I'm good at my work--I just found out this week that I've been recognized by a national travel magazine as one of the top people in my field for the 6th year in a row.
I'm NOT good at golf--just had my 2nd lesson yesterday and it's definitely not coming easily ;-).
And Shy I'm sure you are much better than "mediocre" at a lot of things!

Okay okay.
"I think I'm good at my job, but that's not really where our conversation stemmed from."
uh huh... where did it stem from? cause I'm good at some "stem" things! :p Oh sorry this is a PG-13 board isn't it! :p
Well I can TOTALLY relate to what you are talking about (or what I think you're talking about). One time during a therapy appointment I was bitching and moaning about the thought of getting out there and dating again (it's been awhile since the appointment obviously). And I was saying how I dreaded those first few conversations with a guy where it's like "what do you do for fun" "what are your hobbies", etc. Cause... well... I don't KNOW what I'm good at or really even what I like to do for that matter. I know that sounds rather pathetic but let me explain.
I.e., my boyfriend... his job is TOO much apart of his life in my opinion but because it is - it's always a main point when talking about him - his interests, hobbies, etc. He also has season tickets with a buddy for the Royals. He plays doubleheader softball games on Sunday and Thursday nights. He plays indoor soccer in the winter. He plays golf during the summer. He's a true "dude" through and through... likes watching sports on tv - any sport! Now looking at this list.. it's ALL sports, eh? But it's also a variety of sports.
I LIKE to read, I LIKE to do projects (any project really - from organizing pictures to organizing my storage unit - appears it's about organization to me), I LIKE to write (about feelings and stuff... not actual STORIES), I LIKE to do this and that. But the ONLY thing I LOVE... is my dog. And well... not many people care to hear about that or really even think that is noteworthy. So... I feel like... WHAT defines me? Hell if I know! :(
I often wish I enjoyed something or a couple things so much that I planned for them... I scheduled TIME out of my life for them... they were things I invested in for years and foresaw being apart of my life for years to come... hell even if I was a great shopper! :p LOL A exercise enthusiast. SOMETHING!?
Anyway... good post K - can't say I had much input - just sympathizing with you and adding my bitch session! :p
Let's see.... What am I good at?
I'm good at talking my way out of things.. :)
I'm good at salsa dancing.
I'm good at organising things (events, travel, etc...)
There are a lot of things that I'm good at.. There are also things that I'm not good at,
Exactly.
I think I am good at a lot of things. But mainly singing, dancing, writing and being creative. I am a great friend, conversationalist, and I make people laugh. I also good with budgeting money, home decorating and in DIY projects. I taught myself how to do my own nails, toes and hair (coloring, perming, cutting and weave and extensions).
Right now, I am teaching myself how to put together a writing portfolio so I can begin to do freelance work.
I guess what I'm good at is being a self-starter.
