What are you reading right now? I started Anna Karenina by Tolstoy this fall but I haven't picked it up in awhile...school got in the way. I liked what I read so far though. And I went to the 4th Harry Potter movie last weekend so now I re-read books 4, 5 and currently on 6 during my christmas break. I'm looking for new authors though or interesting reads. Anybody? Do Share!!

The Divide, by Nicholas Evans. It's okay. he wrote the Horse Whisperer.
Anything by Jodi Picoult is good. She wrote My Sisters Keeper and Keeping Faith. I really like those. My all time favorite is White Oleander. The movie was good but the book is a million times better.
I'll try to let you know if I come across any other really good books, I usually read one a week!

I am reading "The Grizzly Maze: Timothy Treadwell's Fatal Obsession with Alaskan Bears" - very good read for non-fiction lovers. Iri

I am reading an FBI former agent biography called Between Good and Evil by Roger L. Depue, Susan Schindehette, his story is very outstanding. I also just finished reading The Broker by John Grisham, good fiction book about a former attorney running for his life who ends up hiding in Italy, beautifully describing some of the cities and places of interest.

The Historian...can't remember the author but it's the vampire novel that was on the bestseller lists for a while. It's pretty good but a little slow.

I've also been re-reading Men Who Can't Love...and realizing I should have re-read it *during* my most recent relationship rather than waiting until it ended. Oh well, better late than never ;-).

Hi Sheri, you reminded me that I have to read the two books you recommended me. But so it happens that my boss just lent me these two books, I am hooked on them, so I'll finish reading them and then I'll read the ones you told me about. Just a quick update - everything is still going great with my new guy. So far I haven't seen anything that bothers me at all. However, I keep crossing my fingers that he won't change and we'll continue going strong. Thanks for your advice. How's is your love life going after the last guy that moved out of town, that was a bummer, sorry about that. I read your post but you got so many replies that I thought you would not even care for an extra one. Anyways, I did not want to get sidetracked from this post. Take care.

I just read The Lovely Bones, for a bookclub. I picked up the next bookclub book, Just One Look by Harlan somebody - kind of a murder mystery/thriller. Not anything like what i normally read, so should be interesting.
The Lovely Bones was a wonderful read- just a good book. Sidenote- I love to recommend HomeGame by Paul Quarrington to people, it's one of my all-time favourite novels.

I'm on a Hemingway kick lately. There are very few of his I haven't read but The Complete Book Of Short Stories is a great choice. You can have a quick read and a new story every couple days.
I also read 'The Old Man and the Sea' at least once a year. There's just something about that story... the lonliness of the man, his huge and patient struggle, the legend he becomes and doesn't even know it. Maybe it's just me but it's one of my favorites :-)

I just finished Anthem by Ayn Rand - before that I read The White House Mess by Christopher Buckly which is one of the funniest books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I am also in the process of rereading all of the writings of Raymond Chandler, my all time favorite novelist.

I read a lot of periodicals, too. National Review, Commentary, The Weekly Standard. I spend a heck of a lot of time reading, actually. The bus ride to and from work affords me time daily and I read for an hour or two before going to sleep every night.

I loved Anna Karenina when I read it years ago - although Levin's story is far more interesting than Anna's, in my opinion.

I'm currently reading a brain candy book by Dean Koontz, "Life Expectancy." A good read and a page turner, if you're not looking for serious literature.

Another recent read/favorite is "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn."

AJ, enjoying life with C.
