I ask because I've given in to my best friend and agreed to meet this guy she wants to set me up with.

At least she's hosting a BBQ and not forcing you to do a double date. As long as a few other people will be there, it won't be as big of a deal if you and this guy don't click.

You never know!! :)

AJ, enjoying life with C.

Actually, I think it's just supposed to be the four of us.

Wellllll, He could be great right? Generally your friends know you well and they wouldn't want you to meet a complete psycho, so she may be looking out for your best interest. Just meet him, it's not like you have to marry him right?
Good luck and let us know what happens.

Go and have fun. At least you will be able to have something to talk about like how he knows your friend and her boyrfriend. If he's boring, you can mingle with the other guests!
A complete moron? thats funny! hehe

ive been set up through friends, etc. but i have never dated anybody i've "ran into" at the store. Does that really happen?

Have fun!

She told your mom about him?!?!?!?!!!!!!

I'd cry foul - that is so not fair. As if dating isn't difficult enough and then the added pressure of trying to tell our parents just enough but not too much AFTER the fact. Oy.

Hopefully it's fun. If you don't like him, start talking about how you want to be married within 6 months and pregnant within 12 and that you hope you have a girl so that you can share your beanie babies with her and, when she gets older, you two can start a Daniel Steele book club. Which you will host in matching outfits.

My mother is pretty good about knowing when to keep her nose out of my business. But there are times when she can't help herself and I am amazed at how quickly I regress and want to start stomping my feet and whining at her to just leave me alone. It's like being in high school all over again. It's the only thing she does that makes me irritated - we are really very close and get along well but I can't stand people prying.

I like men in uniform myself. Meeeeooooowwww! Short and stocky? Could be nice. I dated a man like that who was, incidentally, in the military. Still is. He was the only man shorter than me that I dated more than a couple of times an he was HOT. Not in the tall, dark, and handsome way - but in the muscular and strong way. And he was, ahem , smiled upon in the manwear department.

Good luck.

The only guy I've dated who was in the military was a jerk.

***In my experience, it's always the shorter ones who are "smiled on in the manwear department." I don't know why that is.***

It's the universe's way of making up for their shortness.

As for military men, I have dated a few and they come in all shapes and sizes and personalities just like anyone else. Some of the most intelligent and interesting men that I have met are in the military - though they tend to be career officers as opposed to the enlisted men.
