What's so great about being single?

Other than being able to eat cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner without feeling guilty, what's so great about being single? I've been single for four years, after being married for 14, and I got to say, it sucks major balls. I hate it but can't seem to even buy my way out of it. I've tried eHarmony, Match.com and a local singles dating service and was pretty disappointed in all. How's a person to cope?

Sure, we see "I'm lonely" "Celebrations of Being Single" "Does He Like Me?" posts time and time again, but those are the issues of importance to the person at the time. If you're not interested in the topic, you don't have to reply.

I prefer not to be single, but I also prefer to enjoy whereever I happen to be in life at the time and not always be wishing for something else. So, some of my perks of singledom include:
- I can keep my house as clean or messy as I darn well please
- I can flirt with as many men as I want and nobody gets on my case
- I can pick up and travel, go to a wine tasting, see a play and all the things I want to do without feeling like I have to drag along an SO that's not into it
- I can stay up and watch TV all night without bothering anyone

Thirty,
It was
What's so great about being single?
The freedom to be yourself and enjoying lifes experiences on your terms so that when you do become involved again you have a story to tell and a depth that people can admire because you didn't sell yourself (your greatest commodity) short to be with someone.
When you're alone you gain confidence in yourself and the reason why confidence is so sexy it's because so few people are alone long enough.
SO true! Good one.

Pinkgemini73,
I apologise ... I was going to edit my post but damn, the time difference worked against me.

I hear you! I don't like being touched when I'm sleeping either so being able to lay diagonally in the bed without touching anyone
