When it rains it pours...

So...my bf breaks up with me. Okay, I handle that. I'll survive, move on, have some new adventures.
Then my car starts breaking. Okay, I'm going to scrounge the money together to get it fixed... Stupid car.
Now they are doing layoffs here at work and no one knows who is staying or going.
Someone show me the silver lining, I'm not seeing it.

You sound exactly like me a year and a half ago! I had so many bad things happen in a row that it started to become funny it was so sad (breakup of 5-yr LTR, lost job, had to leave grad school, had 10 cavities, etc.)
I'm not sure there's a silver lining when you're right in the thick of it. It just sucks. Later, when things calm down, you'll be stronger and know yourself really well. if you can survive these things, you can survive anything!
I know that sounds really cliche and probably not that helpful. Just know that this too shall pass.
Keep reminding yourself of how strong and wonderful you are. No matter what happens with the job, relationship, car, etc. - those things don't define you. What makes you *you*, nobody can take away.

AJ, enjoying life with C.
Fortunately, about a month ago my doctor put me on anti-depressants for my anxiety attacks, so it's keeping my emotions in check or I would probably be a big mess. Not that I want to stay on them for the long term, but I was having attacks so bad that it was making me sick.
I talked to my boss and she said that there isn't a big probability that we will be affected by the layoffs, not that she can be sure. But I think we will be okay.
I appreciate the warm thoughts and words of encouragement!

Give it time- the layoff may not even happen. If it does, you are a smart, capable woman who is worthy of great things in her life. You WILL pick up the peices and get back on track, to something so great that you didn't see it coming.
Yep, life sucks sometimes.
I just try and look at it as an opportunity.
