where are they hiding???

For many, many years, I have asked friends and acquaintances if they know any single women. Almost every time they responded by saying everyone they know is married or seeing someone. Often they say they have a list of guys, for whom they are trying to find women. So the problem isn't finding the 'right' woman; it is finding any woman.
So I'm wondering if the women out there have plenty of men from which to pick, but can't find a good one. Or do they have the same problem I have - finding any warm bodies?

While it's good that you know what you want, I still can't seem to get the concept of 40 being old and gross. That happens to be 14 years older than me and I would not likely date someone who's 40 but it's not because they're gross, they're just at a different stage in life.
If you had a 32 year old friend, would it be acceptable for her to date a 40 year old man? That is only 8 years older? Or, would it still be gross simply because of the 40+ age factor?
I don't mean to harp on this, I'm just intrigued.
I just know that even if it is a 12 year age difference, it feels more like 20 years to ne. Maybe I am immature or maybe because I'm still in my post-college, partying every weekend and getting into wild shenanigans phase that a 40 year old seems so much older.
And I haven't met any 40 year olds that I'd consider appealing. I do have a sister who is in her 40's and she and her friends seem much older than me. Her male friends, too old for my taste. Just a whole different crowd. Again, it's probably more a lifestyle difference.
I also have a friend who is 26. She has a brother that is 32 and that is her cutoff. To her, to date any one older than her oldest brother is just an instant turnoff.
Hey cl214 - I am 27 and recently single and live near Baltimore. I feel your pain - trying the eHarmony.com thing and so far quite disappointed. My other problem...no single friends to go out with to meet new people :( Anyway, if you wanna chat my e-mail is theonenonly66@hotmail.com Take care!

George Clooney is gross?
Jonnie Depp is gross?
Brad Pitt?
Patrick Dempsey?
Will Smith (38, but pushing 40)?
Viggo Mortensen?
Denis Leary?
Eric Benét?
Clive Owen?
All I can say is your definition of gross and mine vary greatly.
I am not sure where any single people are- male or female.
Uh, I see a HUGE difference between celebrities and regular 40 year old men. And I have yet to meet a Will Smith, a George Clooney, an Eric Benet or a Patrick Dempsey.
Just my perception.
Jamie! I know you! We've talked like two times before!
Funny!
Well, I have the same problem.
Did you say COWBOYS?????
