Who's putting up a Christmas Tree?

I just wondered since many of us here might also live on our own, are you going to be putting up Christmas decorations this year?

Will you struggle single-handedly to bring some type of Norwegian Fir into your home? Or will it be bah humbug all the way?

I am still thinking about the Christmas tree and whether to put it up. I love Christmas trees, and have all the ornaments etc, but this year will be the first when I am truly single and there will be no one but me and my dog at my condo on Christmas Day. Not even a useless BF to exchange gifts with.

To top it off, I don't think I will have any presents to open this year - so it will look a little depressing under the tree. I know about the presents because my parents sent me cash, my grandmum gets me a magazine subscription, my other grandparents still send me £10 to my parents' home in England and I never see that money! And that's pretty much the gift givers to anyone in my age/single category.

I can't believe I am getting ready for my first present-less Christmas ever. Oh well. I am definitely keeping the bottle of Bailey's tradition though!

Not sure...I love Christmas and have never NOT had a Christmas tree, but I live on the third floor of a city apartment (sans car) now, so I'm a little worried.

I didn't bother with a tree for quite a few years but the last few years, I have put a little one up (about 3-4 feet) and I like having it, even if no one sees it besides me and my cat ;-).

I'm putting up a tree, probably this weekend. I have been doing it alone for close to 20 years, only skipping a few years, and then I was sad I didn't do it. It's easy for me, though. I live in the 'burbs and can just drive down to my local Lowes and grab a small one. I too have lots of ornaments I love to see every year, PLUS ornaments my mother gave me from my childhood, including a way-cool 60s angel for the top of the tree. One year I had my gay neighbors over to help me and it was by far the best-decorated tree I'd ever had, LOL!

As to the presents, here's what I do: I wrap all of the presents I'm going to give to people and put THOSE under the tree.

I will definitely be decorating for Christmas, but not putting up a tree.

My parents live in England and I live in the USA. Since I'm not married and have no kids, my parents, I don't think, feel an urgency to celebrate Christmas with me and I don't feel a need to go to England to celebrate the holidays with them. Too much hassle. I believe in the last 14 years I may have celebrated Christmas with my parents 3 times. I don't really remember. I bet you anything if I were married and had kids, my parents would be different. But I am the disappointing, only child who dates, and managed even once to marry a loser. My parents lost a lot respect for me over the years thanks to the idiots I have choosen to hook up with over time. LOL

I have a GF who has invited me to join her and her husband for dinner on Christmas Day, which I may do. The rest of my family here don't enjoy getting together as a family for Christmas or any other holiday for that matter anymore. They go with their partners families and celebrate, but not with ours. My grandmother has this philosophy that you shouldn't except anyone in the family to want to do anything for Christmas, holidays, b-days etc, because everyone has busy lives and no time to plan do anything

For some reason I thought you lived in England still...maybe it's the flag that threw me off.
