Why does he do this?

I see this guy a few times a day. Everytime I pass him, he singles me out, and gives me this sheepish little smile, while nodding his head slightly. I can't seem to figure it out. In a crowded place while we were with our class, waiting to enter a room, he was standing right near the door while I was near the back of the crowd. He edges out of the way of the door, lets some people in so that I am suddenly standing right beside him. I enter, and he proceeds to follow me inside.

I'm not a mindreader, so I don't know if he is attempting to flirt or make conversation or get noticed or what. He also tends to linger around my desk, looking at me, like he wants to talk but can't find the words or gets nervous.

Next time he does it, why don't you say hello and see what happens?

Maybe you're right. He won't even speak to me, which is weird.

He's probably been racking his brain for weeks trying to come up with something charming to say to you. If you just say hello, that will give him an opening. :)

Aww, haha, thank you for the advice. :-) Now I can relax and stop thinking that he just has a problem with ME, lol.

I agree. Do you know his name? Just say "Hi, ______. How's it goin'?" If he says nothing then that would be the weird part. It sounds as if you guys are pretty young and no one really has much nerve at that age. Just give him and opening and then you won't have to wonder.
