Women and Doctors

I've noticed that women really tend to light up when they learn that a potential date is a doctor. I mean I can understand that they make a lot of money have power and what not. But many other jobs have that. So what is it specifically about a doctor that makes women swoon and attracted to a guy.

It's a good thing we all have different taste in men or there'd be way too much competition for the ones we liked.

I also have not dated a doctor, but I work with them, so I'm going to make a blanket statement here. :) (this of course does not apply to all doctors)

Medical degrees take many, many years of hard work. To be able to obtain that kind of degree, not only do you have to have dedication, you also have to exclude any sort of personal life. Doctors are very driven and a lot of them tend to be somewhat self-centered and single-minded. You cannot have a regular conversation with them about what's on television or what movie you saw or what fun thing you did over the weekend

Well, I'm not one of them. I dated a Med student for a long time, so I got an inside view into what a relationship with a doctor is like:

-- work always comes first, and he may have to leave at a moment's notice
-- his schedule is crazy, and he is sleepy/crabby a lot of the time
-- his bad days at work usually consist of someone dying - you have to be prepared for some tough days
-- he thinks in a "higher plane" - intelligence is sexy, so I liked this, but it can also be hard to relate to someone with a very scientific mind
-- he has at least $150,000 in student loans unless he comes from a wealthy family, so his paycheck may not be as big as it seems at first
-- surgeons in particular are cocky as heck, and it would be annoying long-term. Be prepared to take second fiddle to his beloved spotlight. (my ex was not in the surgery track, but some of his friends were - so I saw some of this)

Some of those things get better after Med school and later in a doc's career, of course, so find an older doctor if you're into that sort of thing.

I dont know cause when I think of doctor Ithink of the 100+ hours they'll probably work a week leaving me home with the house and babies to myself like Dr. Reyes wife on Dr. 90210 that was having a breakdown at one point in a house the size of a museum.

Not my cup of tea. I want a man that works a 40-hour week and has time for me.

I, for one, don't have any particular preference for doctors, so I couldn't tell you, really.

Since we're sharing our types....I tend to prefer guys in the military or law enforcement.

Any kind of engineer or do you prefer certain specialties?

Nope - any kind. As long as he's not the super-dorky, pocket protector type.
