I think everyone knows it takes "work" to make a relationship work, but it also takes "work" to GET TO the relationship phase, even to maintain friends.

I totally agree. I hate the early stages of dating because it is so much work - and it takes so much time. :)
I much prefer the work of maintaining an established relationship, because you already know you want to be with that person. It's much harder trying to get to know someone (or several someones) and deciding whether or not you want to proceed.

It also does take work to make friends and keep friends as an adult. Everyone's schedules are so busy, you really have to make an effort to keep in touch with people and go out.

I totally agree with you. I don't like the early stages of a relationship either. It is a lot of work, even if it's not a lot of actually doing things, it takes a lot of thought to plan what you should do and analyze situations and the person.

For me, friendships are less work, but sometimes take longer to develop.
