my friend and I dated the same guy. I first dated him, but he just played mind games with me and toyed with my emotions, but he still liked me.

Then he started dating my friend, and started a relationship with her quite quickly.

What is it about me, that guys won't take the next step into a relationship?
i feel really angry and jealous about my friend because she always manages to get guys to go to the relationship step but i always seem stuck on the steps beforehand.

I wish I knew...I'm the same way, guys never seem to want to put a label on us or what we are doing. One of them went so far as to quickly correct me when I said something about us dating, he said "I don't consider us dating, we are good friends who spend a lot of time together" (uh yeah dude, sleep together too). I'm tired of people telling me how great and wonderful I am and what a catch I am, so why doesn't anyone want to call me their girlfriend?!? And yes, why is it that some girls always have a guy by their side? But you have to look at the quality (or in some cases, lack of quality) they are attracting...

I think because you don't settle. You obviously saw through him and nexted him. Be proud of yourself, that's a sign of strength which your friend might not have.

i didn't settle for the way he treated me. but he treated my friend completely different. and i wanna know why. i keep meeting these guys that i have to end because they act like jerks. but then with others they are great boyfriends. its frustrating me.

May I ask you why you call yourself 'Old Fashioned Plain'?

This sounds overly simplistic, but maybe he just wasn't that into you (sorry for the cliche wording).

when i signed up for the name, i felt i was boring ugly, plain. ive come along way from then, but every once in a while, i feel the same because of the response around me.
you can feel like you're the best catch in the world, but if no one else thinks so you start to wonder if you're wrong.
