2008 Going Good So Far!

Well, I am hoping that this may be the year my life settles down into some sort of normalcy. Whatever that is anymore! Things are going very well in several areas of my life and I couldn't be more tickled about it!

I started a medical billing business on the side last April and it has been growing and the extra income has been GREAT! I was able to buy a new car for the first time since 1988. I handled everything myself, including buying from the dealership and financing. I did my research and got a good deal. I have always bought from friends and family, so this was my first time to go through a dealership completely on my own.

I have been dating a guy I met on myspace and things seem to be clicking. I know it is early, but he seems to actually be a nice guy. He is VERY laid back and we have alot in common. I have been taking things VERY slow and he hasn't pressured me one bit. I have had such crappy dating experiences that I am going to control the accelerator or it is "SEE YA!". I guess I can start referring to him as MG for myspace guy.

I look forward to seeing how things play out and posting about them. I may have to rethink my motto of "I need a man in my life like I need another hole in my head!".

Glad to hear this great update, Stephanie!

COngratulations on your new business. That takes time and effort and you did it! I very much would like to do the same thing. I bet that it was greatly rewarding to buy your won car- on your own! What did you get?

Looking forward to hearing updates on MG :o)

I was very lucky as far as starting my business. I took over doing billing for a friend that graduated nursing school and didn't have time to do it any longer. She was billing for several speech, occupational and physical therapists. She had been doing it for 4 years, so they were established accounts with reliable therapists. So, I got to sit down and look at the numbers and how it all worked. I had to purchase the software to do the billing and I have now re-couped that expense.

I bought a 2008 Toyota Camry. I went with black as my color choice since it is so classy looking! I did my research on Edmunds.com and also used the car buying service through USAA (for military and their families). I was assigned a rep at a local dealership. He was GREAT! The price was right at Edmunds invoice price and USAA's suggested target price. So, no haggling and I got my windows tinted as a bonus! My mechanic told me he won't ever see me except to change the oil and rotate the tires!! YAY!

He sent me a message on myspace on Nov. 29th. We emailed for several days and then talked on the phone. He has a very nice voice! Anyway, we went out shortly after that and have been talking daily. We have been out 4 or 5 times and I have gone over to his place to watch movies on his big screen HDTV.

He is 46 and no kids. I am not sure if he is divorced or never married. I haven't figured out a way to ask and it hasn't come up in conversations. Still trying to figure out how to approach the subject. His profile says single.

He is VERY laid back and understanding about my schedule being kinda busy. Since he works 50 to 60 hours a week it can be challenging to spend time together He is close to his sisters and brother. I like the way he talks about his sisters!

I know it is very early in the dating stage, but so far no red flags. He hasn't been pushy and seems to be comfortable with the speed I am taking, which is SLOW!
