I have not been dating for about 4 months now and I am once again feeling that urge to get out and meet some people.

I didn't read the PPs posts, so I hope I'm not repeating anything.
I'm fortunate to have a lot of friends and family in my area. But if I didn't, what I would do is attend a meet-up group with other kids around the same age as yours. Make some friends there and figure out which other moms like to get out every once in a while and offer to exchange babysitting nights. Say, maybe you watch her kid the first Saturday night of every month so she and DH can go out, or if she's single, can do the same thing you are and the next month she would watch your kid.
I go out about 1-2 times a month and I usually have my dad watch DS. But sometimes I feel like I'm imposing so I ask my friend Nicole who's a WAHM. Our deal is, I do her graphic design for free and she watches DS for free until the next afternoon so I can sleep in. So if you have any services you could exchange other moms like that then that could work too.
A good place I've found to find meet-up groups is a website called www.meetup.com. Just sign up and punch in your zip code and it finds meet-up groups in your area. It has all kinds (not just mom groups), but I even managed to find a Punky Moms group so I'm not the only freak with dyed hair and tattoos. It's very cool, I'm sure you can find a group you really like! You may even find a single mom group -- then it would be even easier to find someone willing to swap babysitting nights for the opportunity to go out.
