What is everyone doing for the weekend? I soooo love 3-day weekends.

I will be productive this weekend. I am renting a floor sander and am going to get the floor finished in an attic room I have been working on for like 3-4 years. Been doing this on and off as $$ and time/energy permits. It will be my DD's room. The room she is in now is soooo small (course she would have more room if SHE WOULD PICK UP HER STUFF) Anyway I'm excited about it. I like learning new skills like this and am looking forward to tomorrow. I hope it goes quickly. I know the DD will be glad to get up there and after the floor is finished .... it will be a reality for her. Since I have the floor sander for, get this, a one-day rental at $45 but I pick it up Sat. morning and don't have to return it until Tuesday morning, I might even do my porch floor. So this weekend, I will be hanging out Saturday morning, possibly a little Sunday also, at the equipment rental place and probably Lowe's. Definitely plan on looking decent, (no grungy jeans), WITH MAKEUP, just in case ;)

Been trying to keep up with everyone's posts this week, and some of the beach talk makes me so yearn for a vacation or to at least live near a nice beach. I have not been to a beach, or a really good vacation, in like 20 years! I have decided that I am going to start going to the different area fishing places not to fish but to sketch at least once a week. And yes, of course looking decent;) Probably be a bunch of GOMERS and old farts there for sure but you never know and I'll be doing something that I've been wanting to explore a lot more lately.

Do you ever feel like you are the most boring person on the face of the earth? Sometimes I think I am. It seems that by the time the week is over, I am so content to just be at home. I absolutely love waking up Saturday morning and not having to be anywhere. It's just awesome! But after reading some of the posts here, it makes me think how boring I am! I stay busy, but to someone else, I think it would be boring. A friend of mine's husband once told her it would take a stick of dynamite to get me out of the house. I've always been kind of a loner which I think stems from being the youngest of a large family. You never had any privacy. I so enjoy my alone time.

I started thinking about the guy I have been posting about lately, and realized that was another reason it didn't bother me all that much when I broke it off with him was that he was crowding me. We were together every weekend and he called me all the time. I had all these people in my face to begin with (family, friends, boss, etc.) and now there was someone else demanding my time. UGH! I was ready to pull my hair out.

I'm also helping a good friend of mine out by watching her dog while she is on a cruise with her mother and her mother's boyfriend. The only $$ she needs is spending money. He's paying for the whole shabang! I admitted to her that I am sooo jealous but at the same time I'm happy for her also. She's one of those people that really neat things just fall into her lap. She has got to be one of the luckiest people I know when it comes to things like that. I'm doing something wrong here!!!! Don't know what it is but it's something. LOL

It's actually only a one day weekend for me, and with any luck, I'll be officialliy moved in on that day (tomorrow).

Every little thing has gone wrong with the house- it simply wasn't ready when it should have been, and luckily, that's not due in any way to me for once.

I'm working today and Monday, and worked all this week, so funnyguy's been doing all of the heavy lifting and trying to get everything in order. None of this has been his fault either, but it's been one mess after another to deal with.

It's cool that you have the sander for so long, and equally cool that your daughter's close to having a new, bigger room.

I don't think it's at all a bad thing if you're a loner- everyone is different. I crave human contact frequently ad regularly, but I also value any me time I get.

Don't beat yourself up over thinking you're boring- if you enjoy your life, that's enough. I am definitely a "go to work, come home and spend time with my family" type of person. I know once we're officially in the house, I won't want to leave. I also don't do a whole lot of things without my children.

I know my lifestyle is a little too settled for a lot of people- and it took a long time to meet a guy who was on the same page in his lif. Now that I have, it's completely worth it.

Moody, who should be getting ready for work

That's cool, Emma- that you are tackling a big home improvement job like that! I wouldn't know the first step in doing that (or the last step either, for that matter...) so I think it's great that you are doing it yourself! And you are definitely not the most boring person!

My skills tend to be more along the lines of crafts rather than construction- so home improvement projects are usually left to hired workers (or my Dad, who LOVES that kind of thing).

My weekend has an extra day, but the kids still have school on Labor Day (due to a WONDERFUL idea by someone in the state of TX to screw with the school scheduling this year) so we can't make any big plans. Not that we could anyway- we had things to do in town already.

Last night (Friday) I had a date with Hiker. Enjoyable but simple evening- where dinner was great food. And dinner turned into foreplay for the rest of the evening... hehehe. But with our schedules, we have been getting together only once a week lately- and we were both DUE! lol Seems like each week we go out, we're due- because we both could use a dose of sex more often than just weekly. But it literally just gets better every time. :-)

This morning Hiker will be joining me and the boys for a geocaching event here in town. And meeting up with my Dad and oldest brother there, too. And some of the fellow cacher buddies we all know from our area. It's going to be fun! I'm not sure what the event contest will be yet, but it will end with a burger/hotdog picnic gathering in a park for lunch- so it'll be very family-friendly and a laid-back time. I'm also VERY thankful that these few days have been warm (highs in the 80's) but not screaming hot (upper 90's or 100's) for a change- so we won't all MELT by being outside today.

And then either this afternoon or tomorrow, I had promised MonkeyBunny a trip to the bowling alley if he had a good week at school- so we'll probably do that sometime.

Monday, the kids will be in school- but both Hiker and I will be off. So we have plans to meet up for lunch because we rarely ever get to do that! And who knows?? Maybe there will be some afternoon delight before the kids get out of school... hehehe Uh- it'll be "next week" by then, so we'll be due again. lol ;-)

I tell ya- sometimes I feel like I have to get it while I can just because our schedules are so full. LOL

And when I'm not doing anything else, there is laundry, pre-reading for the CPR class I have next weekend, going over notes for my class for work, continuing on with my teaching-myself-how-to-crochet project of making blocks for an afghan, getting new wiper blades for my van (the back one is stripped in half and hanging down- think that is a good sign I need to replace it?!??), sweeping up kitty hair, picking up toys, filing my bill statements (nearly 3 months of them- yikes, I've been lazy this summer)....

I'm surprised I get any time to SLEEP sometimes. Not the most exciting life here either- just busy.

I love your post- how great that you have such a productive house project!! I think it is neat that your DD will get a new room. You are going to be so proud and have such a feeling of accomplishment when it is done. There is nothing better than ME time! That makes you a better mom and person for sure. I love and crave and cannot live without ME time and feeling like I am accomplishing something.

I recently did DS's room - gave him a wild blue paint color, tiles on the floor that look like wood (very practical for our location), new furniture (bought it at the scratch and dent sale in a local store and hauled it myself in a few trips in my truck), new decor - surfer dude!! And we love his room - we are always in there. We being me, the 2 dogs and my son. It gets kind of crowded with the four of us!! The dogs are very big!!

To answer your question - what am I doing? Well, my coach has my time this weekend. This morning I rode 3 hours hard on my bike and then did a very hot and as fast as I could 30 minute run off the bike in the noon heat. Today and tomorrow I am working as much as I can but I might try to slip out to the mall. Tomorrow is 1.5 hours on the bike, 1 hour run, 1.5 hour swim - killer!! Then DS comes home from his dad's house. I might see my lifeguard tonight - he is working the weekend, too. And Monday is work and working out and maybe a trip to my parents house.
