6 minute decision

I was out riding the bike this morning in my favorite park - a lot of cyclsts ride there. I was about to turn around when I looked behind me and noticed a cuter younger guy was on my wheel. We chatted a bit - he was a good rider - said he was getting back in shape. He asked where I was riding and said he would try to ride with me. Okay so far.

But then we came upon the gun range - it is where the sheriffs go to practice. And he commented on how that reminded him of when he was an officer in the Marines. WHOA - this is like 3 strikes against you buddy.
1) More a$$ than a toilet seat
2) I think there is something about police and military that makes them not a good candidate for me
3) I don't want a military influence on DS

He asked where I was riding and I said that I had another 8 minute interval in the park and then had to go home. I have to stick to this because i have a very good but strict coach and my bike computer transmits what I am doing to him ( I dub it the babysitter). He said okay and then he told me how he was a runner in college. This possibly could remove a strike because he was a fast runner. And he does have dark hair.

So I take off on my interval - it is not that fast for most male cyclists. But he was struggling to keep up with me and then I dropped him. Too bad so sad. I am NOT changing MY workout for a guy. He said, "what are you doing, training for the Tour De France?" To me, that is a put down that I am more fit than him. I could see him saying - hey you are doing great - and I am not fit enough to keep up yet - but come back and get me.

My last two intervals were my best ever. So I sent a funny note about my ride to my coach!! :-)

See - I am getting out - and since he fell off the interval in 6 minutes - I felt proud of myself for deciphering someone is not for me in 6 minutes or less!! That is empowering.

Heeheheehe! Thanks for the chuckle; that's a funny story!

Way to go on the 6 minutes or less thing. AND, way to go for attracting him long enough to GET those 6 minutes!

He was clearly intimidated by your ability, and didn’t handle it well. (Come to think of it, it must have been hard for a Marine get left in the dust

You know what you want, and what you wouldn't be compatible with. Getting out there is huge- and who knows- maybe the next guy will be able to keep up and be the right match for you. If not, be proud of your training habits, and the fact that you are doing it for you, and not to impress anyone.

lol about leaving him in the dust! But I do have to say I dont think he was rude with the comment about the Tour de France! I'd have taken it as a compliment & MAYBE said "Been there, done that", lol.

I really wasn't going THAT fast, though!!

But tonight I had so much fun - went to the pool. All of the hottie lifeguards said they missed me and hadn't seen me in a while.

One of the shy guys from the swim club introduced himself. He left me in the dust!! And there was an elite athlete there from South America - we all got to watch him swim so so fast.

So there is hope!!

I have a great bike ride this weekend for almost 4 hours along the beach - tons and tons of single guys riding bikes. And there is a running race in a few weeks, too. Outa the home office I go!!

The dogs are a plus, too. I find it is quit good to just be out with an "ice breaker" or something to talk about. Although the last set of guys to come up and talk about the dogs were a GAY couple - go figure!! LOL!!
