Well as much as it is a bummer for poor Nic - he has to learn that stuff like this happens and what to do. And yes I have messed up the school pick up time - those early release days make us all crazy - and especially in your situation where someone else is picking him up. Hugs to the little guy!
I lost my kids (both of them) in WalMart. I was looking at curtains, and went around the aisle, thinking they were following me. They went around the OTHER aisle to look for me. By time time I realized they weren't with me, they had headed to the fabric counter, and I was being paged. Embarrassing, but at least they knew to find an adult in a blue vest to help them find me! No harm, no foul, I guess, but I can definitely relate!
Moody- whose children wander aimlessly as much as she does!
The school pick-up thing was a huge anxiety for me before DS started homeschooling. The teacher was always supposed to walk him outside and wait for him to get picked up since he has special needs. One day an older student took my son outside another door. My mom (who was doing the pick up) went to the usual door. The teacher was panicked because she couldn't find my son either. He was on the other side of the school just standing there lost in his own world, waiting, thinking he was in the right place. I FLIPPED out completely over that and visited the school the next day to make sure they would never do that again.
Well, that's IT!! You lose your shiny spatula for the day!

(Which reminds me... the kids get out at noon today, so I better RUN!)
