Back with my tail between my legs

You guys were right and I chose not to listen to you all and now here I am back with my tail between my legs.

RG is a single guy who is happy with his singleness and not into a serious relationship. I had to learn it for myself. It was a hurtful lesson too.

I realized it this week when my birthday passed by with not even a "happy birthday". I went to San Diego for a week with my kids and came home with all kinds of stuff for RG. I gave him his gifts on my birthday and we walked around a cruise night and then I went home. And cried on the way home.

Its tough because he still wants to date and talk often. I am with him and loving him but I know thats that all it will be. Its hard to love someone from afar.

Tonight we went to dinner. I was on top of the world being with him and dressed up, and having a good dinner. And he was totally unenthusiastic dressed in a t shirt and jeans. He seemed like could not care less where he was or who he was with. It hurt. I realized that I put my eggs in the wrong basket.

Right now I dont want to meet anyone else. I dont want to date unless its with someone I have known before. I dont want anyone new. I just want to lick my wounds. Put on my ipod and run as far as I can. Somehow I think that if I just dive into my training and forget about men for a while I will be ok.

Its even tough for me to read about everyone elses dates. I am happy for the regulars on the board though who are doing well.

Hey Laurie,

I know it hurts.. and we have all been there.... i hope you will be able to think on the positives. because there are always positives in any situation.... make a list of the positives if you have to.. it could start as simple as you got a free dinner tonight... and build from there.

I think it's important not be become bitter after a break up... one break up is really just a stepping stone to the one you are meant to find... "god blessed the broken road"

It takes time.. feel free to post your progress week after week.. that's what i did after my breakup... my head went round and round for

UGH - I am sorry you had to go through all of that. But in a way - it is the first step towards shaking off the connection you felt with him and putting yourself back together. We have all been through this - I could have written your stories a few years back with someone I saw and hoped a lot for more.

For now - take care of you - and yes - run and run - that is good!

I bet there is a great guy waiting for you out there - and you just made his day -only he doesn't know it yet! LOL!!

No tail between the legs - only stories - and experiences - tomorrow is a new day!

Happy belated birthday.

I know it's hard right now, but every day you put behind you moves you further from the disappointment and the pain.

Don't think of it as a tail between the legs! We have ALL been there. It really sucks when you feel something for someone and they don't feel the same way about you. I am NOT dating right now and am also taking time for myself to try and get centered. Hang in there!
(((HUGS))) and Happy Belated Birthday!

"You cant be casual and exclusive at the same time."

No, you can't- that doesn't work for one of the parties!

And the whole jeans/ t-shirt thing- you can't dress up even a LITTLE for a nice night out? Some people really sell themselves short on that, don't they? Why NOT put in the effort a little, you'd be surprised at the results!

Reminds me of this guy I knew when I worked at a gas station years ago... worked in the mill and had long hair, with shaved sides- kinda like a mohawk. Really fun, great guy but he never seemed to find a woman- til he cut his hair. OMG- he looked so different and he came into the station after cutting it and was like, "OMG- I went to the bar last night and women were HITTING ON ME!" He was flabbergasted LOL!
