I am the one whose ex is in prison (yay) but he is probably getting out in May (booooo) but hopefully things will be ok because...

well wait...rememeber that teacher guy I dated...Chris? Total moron...forget about him - I did LOL.

THEN there was Jack...the NASCAR guy. He was afraid to tell his parents about me and waffled around because I was a single mom. Was afraid what his family thought...

WE GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!! He finally grew the balls. I had put my foot down. I think the last time I posted was this time last year and I got a ticked at everyone because in spite of putting my foot down I still loved him. In the beginning of march he finally realized that enough was enough (so all of you that don't believe in that 8 week theory - WRONG! SOOO worked here!) Came over and I told him I still loved him but this was it - no half way. I would take him back but I had to be IN his life. Next day he told his mom about me. Sunday morning he told his Dad (parents are recently divorced) and that night...yes THAT night...he proposed.

We decided to give it acouple months before we told him family since they didn't know I exsisted at all. So from April though June I spent time getting to know them. We set the date for June 2006 for a big wedding - he wanted it - but decided it would be better for Alyse (my DD) for us to get married legally - also better for adopting her hopefully - so we had a church wedding at my church I grew up at with only immediate family and a nice dinner on October 4th. We closed on our home on the 21st and we are HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY and so is my DD and she calls him dad all the time and everything has shaped up in a way that a scriptwriter cannot even manage. Jack is loving and attentive and giving and the house is gorgeous (3000 square foot 5 year old home on 1 acre but done in an older world style with gorgeous wood, natural fireplace, 4 bedroom 3 full bath.....more than I ever dreamed)

So ladies... dreams DO come true. Sometimes patience does work out. So even though we had a wedding (I got a gorgeous candlelight colored gown at groupUSA on clearance for $45! And my DD got a used but perfect flowergirl dress at a resale shop for $4! I made my bouquet myself from fresh roses from Costco....we didn't want to waste time or money on it but I still wanted it to be special seeing as he hadn't been married before) we are having a BIG real one - real celebration that is - with a "vow renewal" on June 15th.

I don't think I had posted all this news so pardon me if I am redundant...but I had to share that it is OFFICAL! we are happy! and yes....we met on match.com! LMBO!

Hope all of you are as lucky and happy as I! It can happen :)

Laura

PS - his family loves me - loves DD - in fact she is getting a Barbi Jeep and an American Doll and all the Fairytopia Barbi stuff and the Pegasus just from them for Christmas (Santa's feeling jilted so he got her a 4 foot dollhouse!) AND the Saturday before the wedding his mom and I went to lunch and she APOLOGIZED for what she said to Jack about me as a single/divorced mother before she knew me and that she had been very wrong! Can you believe it? And the other night at dinner she said to DD "I am really proud to be your grandma" is that sweet? And "grandpa Jack" takes us to all kinds of places to do things.....just wonderful! OK OK - enough LOL! Have a great holiday!
