No matter what the case is, I think it's common courtesy to let someone know you are no longer interested, moving, etc. No matter if you have been writing a week or had one or two dates. It's pure common courtesy. It doesn't have to be dramatic or otherwise. Just a nice FYI. The last guy I said this too, said I needed therapy. LOL. Whatever.
I think you can only let it go over you like a duck off a waters back if you have a LOBOTOMY. Again, it's common courtesy. I don't think you can shrug off all feelings as you sometimes suggest. It's maybe easier to think it was nothing, but it was a month of investment of nothing. It at least deserved a: Hey, I am sorry about this news, but I am taking a new job and moving. I don't 'think a LDR is going to work, but I enjoyed my time with you.
Everything and anything else is plain gutless. I just don't think it's something you can just brush off. So I'm going to disagree, because your a physical person and I notice how important that is for you and when you dont have it, it makes you sad and disappointed.
