SO proposed last weekend and we're engaged to be married. We went for a romantic walk at Land's End (views of Marin headlands, GG Bridge and the Bay and sounds of seagulls and foghorns) and he proposed. It was really beautiful. The rest of the weekend I dragged him around to tons of jewelry shops and then finally told him to pick for me. We sat on it all weekend because we thought we should tell the kids first and their reaction was very funny, nonchalant. DD wanted to know if she could be the flower girl and DS said he maybe he could give me away...DF had been thinking he could ask DS to be his best man. I told the kids that they could call him stepdaddy now (joking) and DD said she wanted to call him, 'twinkie'.

So we're thinking next summer/spring break, bare feet on a beach in Kauai, only immediate family and then a party when we get home.

So I guess that means you said yes LOL. Congrats. Although, I think that pretty soon they're going to need to ammend the title of the board to Single Mothers and Dating, and FSMNHM (Formerly Single Mothers Now Happily Married).

CONGRATS! Kauai would be awesome! I love it there. Hoping to be able to get back there again. We promised to take Dylan. Kauai is so romantic and the locals are very friendly. The Hyatt is a gorgeous hotel and has amazing grounds. Shane played golf there and I had a spa day at the Anara Spa. It's heaven, I mean it. We stayed at the Pahio Resort at the Radisson in Lihue. It's a time share that belongs to Shane's aunt and uncle. Very nice. The Radisson hotel is beautiful too. Great pool! If you need any info on Kauai, I have TONS!

Let me know!

Mel

I met DF almost 3.5 years ago online. We met each other's criterion: namely we were in the same city, we could spell and we were both available/ready for a relationship. He was seeking out some other qualities, too, someone politically progressive and a foodie. When we met, he had taken everyone who had responded to his ad to dinner and I was the last of the line up (I found out later). He met my superficial criterion (tall) and at dinner he impressed me with his charm and the book he was currently reading. I was comfortable with him straightaway and he walked me to my car and I drove him to his...we were enjoying each other's company so much. The red flags never appeared...it was so easy to be with him. Now of course, things are not so...picture perfect, but we're here and we're commited to working things out.

He's a transplanted New Yorker, divorced, no kids, Jewish, smart and facetious...comes from a very nice family. The quirky thing about them is that I'll be gaining an Orthodox rabbi AND a Hare Krishna monk as brother in laws (not the same man).

Thanks, Mel. I may have to take you up on your advice because I haven't heard from my cousin and I wanted them to help me out some. My cousin actually works at the Hyatt. I think that I can hire a photographer from here, but the ideal beach? I think I need their two cents.
