SO proposed last weekend and we're engaged to be married. We went for a romantic walk at Land's End (views of Marin headlands, GG Bridge and the Bay and sounds of seagulls and foghorns) and he proposed. It was really beautiful. The rest of the weekend I dragged him around to tons of jewelry shops and then finally told him to pick for me. We sat on it all weekend because we thought we should tell the kids first and their reaction was very funny, nonchalant. DD wanted to know if she could be the flower girl and DS said he maybe he could give me away...DF had been thinking he could ask DS to be his best man. I told the kids that they could call him stepdaddy now (joking) and DD said she wanted to call him, 'twinkie'.
So we're thinking next summer/spring break, bare feet on a beach in Kauai, only immediate family and then a party when we get home.

Congratulations, Bay!!!
That weekend I dragged him around Union Square, the malls and some specialty stores and finally just told him to pick for me...and he picked a princess cut diamond set in platinum...set between three channel diamonds on each side.
We will live in my house...in my fantasy life we will add a new floor to the house, but I think instead that the remodel will consist of a master room with a bath in the garage, getting rid of the chimney (too much leakage/dry rot problems), nice stairs downstairs...and a remodeled kitchen. Having an illegal in law downstairs is very popular in SF...but I do want to have it done right. Some of these things look and feel a part of the garage, but some people do it nicely and it looks like a part of the house.
What was the name of the workbooks you and Chris looked over?
We got two copies of the book "Saving Your Second Marriage Before it Starts", and one each of the corresponding workbooks, for "him and her".
