Is this ok to discuss here? I hope so!

Disclaimer: I am not sexually active at the moment, but this thought is always in the back of my mind. I have no idea what to do once I am.. ya know?

What do women over 35 use? What has worked and has not worked for you?

I tried an IUD and ended up having it surgically removed.

I tried Depo and ended up on anti-depressants it messed me up so badly! haha

Are there any decent options out there for us?

I am well past the 35 year mark, and I've never had a doctor tell me something like that.

I'm nearly 34. It's my understanding that most doctors think it's ok for women over 35 to take the pill as long as they don't smoke. I

Well, I have not talked to my regular doctor about it yet. I was seeing someone last year and on the fly went to Planned Parenthood and did the Depo Shot. While that is all great and wonderful.. it made me so psycho that I know for a fact I ran off this man LOL. I am so not the type to be like... why aren't you talking, whats wrong, what are you doing? You hate me don't you? Just say it! LOL.. I was a mess. I cried every day for no reason at all. I'd call him crying. Can you say RUN?! Hell, I'd run too haha. He's cool though, we're still friends and he laughs at it all with me that I turned into a psycho girl.. but that was the end of that.

It was the Planned Parenthood doctor that told me no birth control pills over 35. It greatly increases your risk of heart attack, and smoking on top of that is super bad.

I guess my vote would be the ring, the minipill or IUD - although you say you had bad problems with the IUD.

Keep us posted - hope your doctor has a good solution for you.

ACK!!!!!!
I got pregnant with D4 at 42!!!!! I am on the pill again, no chances anymore. This way I kknow that I am taking responsibility for my choice not to have any more children- at 47 I am waaaayyyyy too old. But it is still possible for me to get pregnant and have a healthy kid-even now. Not lkikely, but possible.
