I saw Lemony Snicket tonight and didn't like it at all. One of the reasons I went was to see Meryl Streep - and she was okay. I have always thought that she is a versatile and talented actress.

The plus is the costumes and set - and the story is a little like Batman - not real - moves very fast through small wierd stories.

But the overall story and ending is horrible. I wanted to get up and leave and many people did. It certainly is not a movie I would take my son to see. There is just nothing uplifting about three children becoming orphans and not finding a home. Especially this time of year.

So - as my heading goes - blucko - don't waste your money.

the previews were so...dark and disturbing. I know it's a movie that would make me feel down.

I did see Spanglish tonight though...GREAT...I loved it. The Tea' character made me want to pummel her. It was ALL ABOUT HER...even at the end when she should have been penitent she wanted it her way. Sheesh...

I am glad that you liked Spanglish - and yes - Tea deserves to be pummeled.

I guess it is all in the way you interpret things. I saw this movie with my daughter and she absolutely loved it and wants me to get the books for her to read. We both appreciated how the older daughter was the genius inventor who always thought up of ways to get out of dilemmas. But most of all I really appreciated the story of three orphaned children who could overcome such adversity and stick together in a truly strong bond no matter what came their way, and how they each supported eachother with their individual strengths and gifts.

I thought it was entertaining and fun.

I guess that is a different way to look at it. I was seeing it from the side of what a horrible thing to do to children!! Thanks for your insight.
