I agree with Alison - there are all sorts on OLD - it is fun to see what is out there and to practice dating and communicating and to experiment with what you want and don't want. But you do have to weed a LOT out. It is a slow process sometimes.
Some have had luck on OLD though. Many good reports here.
As for OLD.... I've tried it here and there and never met anyone good.... for me, it was good for meeting an older guy or guy my age. since at bars, i'm always meeting younger guys.... But when i went out, there was no chemistry. and the person didn't look like the photo... so sometimes i look at match.com or send winks, but don't date much from OLD. And I prefer dating younger guys anyway.
I have much better luck in real life.
I meet guys all over the place... for me, the best line is "what's your name" and extending my hand for a hand shake.
Glad to hear you're doing what is best for you!
Perhaps you can put here what is written on your profile so we can take a look?
I found with OLD, there were always those guys looking for a hook-up, so you just learn to weed them out!
Hi Cute - good for you on the changes in your life.

I got the same thing from POF--lots of guys just looking for a hook-up!
