Come Out and Play #2

I was looking over some of the older posts and seen Moon's come out and play.

I'm at work, it's Friday and to top it off, after today I will not be at my desk until January 2, 2008!!!! I'm so excited. Am I going to get any work done...HECK NO!

So what's everyone's weekend plans? Anyone brave enough to venture out into the last minute shopping crowds? Parties, family gatherings? WHATCHA DOIN!

For me, I'm getting my b-day & Christmas (and next years b-day & Christmas! lol) to myself today. New living room furniture. Since my divorce six years ago, other than 2 bed matress sets, I have never had any new furniture. Everything I had was either borrowed from family or second-hand and not really my taste or what I wanted. Don't get me wrong, I was more than thankful for the second-hand and borrowed items to get me by, but getting something new is quite the milestone.

Saturday will be spent doing my few last minute item shopping. I always like to leave just a few things at the last minute for the excitement. Don't ask...I'm kinda weird that way. I got a last minute invitation to an actual adult gathering for Saturday night. I have to find somewhere for my DD so I can go though. As usual, she is suppose to be with her dad but he's busy and she can't stay. I was hoping just this one time he would follow through with his weekend visitation ..silly me for thinking that! lol

Other than this and gearing up for Christmas, the rest of the weekend will be spent chillin on my new sofa and visiting here to stay caught up with everyone. I learned my lesson...got behind one time and it was quite a job getting caught up.

My weekend is the same old boring stuff. Swim, bike, run, eat, sleep! I just finished swimming over 3 miles this morning in the pool and have to run for 1.5 hours tonight. Ironman is coming up soon!! MA just left on a trip to see his family and DS is going with his dad so it is me and the pups for some glorious and much needed ME time which has been too infrequent lately.

I have to work on baking a peanut-free dessert to take to my mom's house. She always makes everything with nuts and my DS cannot have those - so I am making something very special. DS asked for an Oreo Pizza - like the ones he saw in Dominoes - so I am going to get very creative and make one that looks like a huge snowflake. I have to sort of make it holiday-ish you know! Will try to remember to take a pic.

I do have the original double fudge Hershey brownie recipe that will be the bottom layer. Was going to layer with Oreos and butter cream and then dust with cocoa in a snowflake pattern.

It's my birthday Sun and I'm being a stoic trooper and expecting to be forgotten. My S19 has been the one to drag his brother out shopping and bake a cake etc. S16, well, no expectations there. My mom won't make the hour and a half trip from where she is staying with my brother just for my birthday when she's coming for Xmas Tues. M has his girls but he may carve out an hour for me. Ah well.
So I will spend the weekend cleaning my house, getting things ready for the big ski trip, last minute stocking stuffer shopping. I am having a date tonight with M, so at least that will be fun.

The kids will be leaving tomorrow to spend the holiday week with their dad. Hiker is coming with me to drop them off- and then we will spend some time together out of town before we come back! :-) We might have to drive in snow (hopefully NO ice) but we'll get there.

Next week... NOTHING planned! I will enjoy the time off from work, and the time off as slave to the kids! hehe

~shrimpy, looking forward to some lazy times
