AGREED! That is the most annoying thing - see - you have this too - it is on BOTH sides. IN fact the "unreliable" thing is in everything we do - not just dating. People are not reliable in many things - not just dating.
And as we age, it is harder to find a match - the pool recedes and everyone has their own set of issues, baggage, preferences, interests, situations, etc.
The expectation has to be for YEARS, not hours, days, weeks or months.
Hi April, sorry you had such a worrying, negative experience with this one. Relieved to hear nothing bad happened to him, however sad that his sister is in the hospital for sugery.
For me, I've been doing the online dating thing for over 1 1/2 years now... It's all about his consistency in actions. I usually always give them a second chance when there's a decent excuse. And believe me I've heard some doozies! One guy cancelled (I was not stood up) 3x -- 1) his father had to have emergency heart surgery; 2) his daughter was sick at home he wasn't comfortable leaving her with a babysitter; 3) and final time, he said his ex-wife got called in to work on her scheduled night to have the girls and he couldn't get a babysitter in time to meet. These were all legitimate excuses, and I believed him.
Well, I'm glad that he called you with an explanation as to what happened, and it sounds like he was truly sorry about missing out on the date- so hopefully he'll work extra hard to make it up to you ;)

Sorry for your disappointment.
I know the deal breaker for me is being unreliable.
Okay--I got a voicemail (I was too busy at work to answer the phone) and...his sister had emergency surgery yesterday and again this morning.
