The other night we were eating dinner and dd (who's only 7 and until several months ago had a very limited repretoire when it came to food) was complimenting us on the dinner and said "I'm glad you're my parents! I wouldn't have it any other way!" Very sweet and then she said "oh, I know what I'm going to give you after dinner" We didn't think much of it and then after dinner she went into her room and came out with $1 for each of us and said she wanted to give that to us for all the great dinners we make for her. Of course, then we blew it because we didn't take the money and tried to explain that it's our pleasure and that we love her and love taking care of her. I say we blew it, because she was heartbroken that we hadn't accepted her presents. So, my bad and I had to smooth that over with her by telling her how proud we were to have a dd that would want to show such gratitude. But I was proud of how sweet she was.
