Having an identity crisis here....
Did you go back to your maiden name after the divorce? Here's my dilema.. my driver's license is still in my maiden name because i didn't have the paper trail to update it (and it's two marriages behind... still with my birth name).
My Social Security card has been a different story.. I've updated it each time I was married. So, many of you might remember that my girls lost my purse, they also lost my SSN card AND my last marriage cert.
Getting a new drivers' license was easy.. i just brought my birth certificate.. got my license with my maiden name... no big deal, or so i thought.
Now because of the new job, i need a copy of my SSN card but I lack the paper trail for my name... So, i have an opportunity to go back to my maiden name. Would you?
Originally, i was going to leave it as the married name because it would be a pain to change and because 2 of my 5 children have that last name... Now, i have to go through the trouble anyway......So, confused......
I go tomorrow to the court house so please respond tonight...
What would you do or did you do?

I never heard of that, but I might consider doing that for my girls if I ever get married again.
Catherine Murphy-Klingler Clooney. :)
I kept my married name because that's my kids' name, I figured it would just be better and less confusing that way.
Me too.
Rockafellers are my neighbors!
Holy Cow - we ARE a lot alike LOL!!!

Hey ladies-
I have been dilema-ing this for a while myself. DD's have ex's name. In my papers i reserved the right to go back to my maiden. But it's soooooo much work. Once I change it, I change it. Then if I ever get married, that could be an issue. Some guys are sticklers for that. I was waiting since BF an I have been together 2 years now and I thought by now we would've moved in together or made further steps, but we are still just where we are, so I think I'm just going to do it.
I like that explaination! I'm sure that helps make things easier and more clear for the Avester. Good thinking!
But when you are married - then you have your husbands name
Well.... not really.
>>with your maiden name or your married name. I don't feel I am either of those people.<<
That's how I feel.... like I want to get rid of my last name altogether or make something up. I certainly am NOT the same person i was at age 20.... nor the person I was when I was married... I've been building a new identity... I have a fairly unique first name anyway and most people aren't familiar with my last name.
BTW, I didn't get to the courthouse this morning... I'll try again tomorrow or Monday.
again, thanks for the replies.
